What’s the Most Overlooked Upgrade on the LC250?

After all the conversation around suspension philosophies last week, it had me thinking:

There's a ton of talk about various suspensions and tire size — but what do you think is the most overlooked upgrade on the 250?

It could be a minor cosmetic mod.
It could be something that improves the way it drives.
Or even something you didn't fully appreciate until living with it everyday.

I love mods that punch way above their weight class in terms of how it improves the everyday enjoyment of the rig.

What's the most underrated mod for you all?

Side door panels. Protects, doors sound more solid when closing, looks good. Also low dollar add.

Matte PPF, Paint Protection Film for the center info touch screen, it’s a game changer for all those fingerprints. We added it to the dash display as well, it helps prevent those micro scratches from cleaning off trail dust.

As a 1958 owner, what I consider the most overlooked/impactful mod is likely one that isn't even on the radar for many, if not most LC trims w/ or w/out the premium package. The biggest game changer for me was the offroam magnetic mount with charger. Everything else has been use-case decisions primarily focused on maximizing the rig's compatability with my three kids and crazy pup.

First thing I ordered an my LC isn't even here yet. I saw the mount in a used model I test drove and ordered one that day!

Sound deadening has been a good one for me. You can't show it off after you install it like other mods, but it does improve everyday driving.

It's surprising how much wind noise get it while driving. Do you have a source for this sound deadening? Did your dealer do it?

Simple, cheap and great results. A windshield gasket to minimize wind noise.

The sound deadening did not really help with highway wind noise, but my Ladder Frame/EGR bug deflector did. I had my local window tint/PPF/car audio shop install the deadening. I believe they used Soundskin. There are many other similar brands available.

I did my own sound deadening. It definitely helped, but it's possible to do a lot more than I did. I always think about bang for buck - for the time, effort, and $ involved, does it really make my LC better? I spent about $100 and did two hours worth of work, tops. Well worth the investment for me.

I did not because I don't use the mount as a primary charging method. Due to the amount of time that my phone spends there, with the charging cable either plugged or not, I prefer a lower aperage for the sake of battery health. I do plan to run it to the back of the console, but that is more of a cable management preference as it relates to the console area.

The thing I am really involved in over-engineering out right now is a semi-permanent/ruggedized/OEM-lite extension of the "3rd row" USB-C ports up into the 2nd row. I have a Bison Gear cargo system that closes off the cargo area 99.9% of the time (Girl Scout dad here, so cookie season always makes me open it up). Those rearmost ports are just a wasted resource I intend to fix.

This just got me to thinking, would the 4 Runner Trail Hunter plastic panel interchange? I don’t need an air compressor personally but I gotta wonder if those plastics would even fit? Roof line in the Land Cruiser is higher but the plastic might meet up at the window??

Buy the rubber gasket on Amazon. Wipe the area with alcohol and a rag, removed the adhesive from the rubber strip and apply it. Make sure the orientation is correct and tuck it in. Took me longer to figure out the correct orientation. This is the one I purchased but, there are many.

2026 LC Premium - 5 Misses
#1 - LC Off Road Package. Bilstein 8100 shocks w/ 1.5” lift, forged 17 or 18” wheels w/ +35mm offset, Nitto Ridge Grapplers, sway bar disconnect, TRD exhaust
#2 - I second the hood gas lifts - big miss by Toyota. Redline nails it!
#3 - Tailgate & cargo lighting. 2026 now offers tailgate lights as port accy, but still needs better cargo area lighting.
#4 - Windshield exterior moldings. Noticeably reduced wind noise.
#5 - Engine cover. Toyota should be ashamed - darn engine compartment looks like a snake’s nest. For price point LC should have standard cover to dress it up. Victory 4x4’s aluminum version is nice.
