Potential Fire Issue

Same thing just happened to me.. The common theme seems to be rain and driving over big puddles. This has really undermined my trust in the truck. I hope it's not a design issue. Couldn't turn on ACC power without gasoline spilling out of the side, which made the whole towing experience quite an ordeal (fire dept had to get involved). Car was towed over the weekend. Waiting to hear back once someone looks at it.

Just FYI but I haven't stopped blasting thru deep puddles - and it hasn't had any issues since that first time.

Great to hear! I'm planning to continue as well The dealer notified Toyota and they deemed the vehicle roadworthy as long as there were no further leaks after the orange clip was secured.

Yes! If you're changing the oil and under the truck anyway, I would make sure that the orange "buckle" is secure and all the way around the connector (like in the picture). According to the mechanic, mine was popped out and hanging loose.

Hey, wanted to check in here and say thanks for the thread!

2025 LC, was driving home and it started pouring rain. Made it home totally fine, went back out later to unload the car when the rain stopped and noticed a super faint smell of fuel, nothing major, thought it was coming from my neighbors yard.

Later that evening, started the car up to run an errand and it started really leaking fuel. Dash lit up like a xmas tree, fortunately just shut it right back down. Was easy to get it into neutral and parking brake released for a tow to the dealer.

Got to the dealer at 7:30AM, they texted us at 10:30 it was done. I figure it's a known issue; I hope Toyota issues a TSB and a new part for that connector.

I had the same issue with my 2024 Land Cruiser as you too. Last month there was some heavy rain in my state and while I was driving I passed over some small water puddles and the same exact situation happened and all sorts of warning lights appeared. I also had my car towed and the dealership fixed up my car and initially they told me it was not covered by warranty because I drove over a puddle. I had to fight for my case in order for it to be covered. They told me that the high pressure fuel line disconnected from the tank but every component was intact so they just put it back. I contacted Toyota to let them know about what happened. Did you contact Toyota about this? I'm still talking to Toyota brand engagement center about this. I will let you know if I hear anything from Toyota and please update if you hear anything too from Toyota.

I think this is really worth looking into. Can anyone explain to a mechanically disinclined person like myself where do I look for this hose exactly? I realize am looking for the hose with the orange clamp, but in what area and how do I find it?

This is when I attempted to do the GX 550 fuel tank swap. The one on the left is the LC fuel tank, the one on the right is the GX tank with the fuel line swapped. The red circle is the forward end of the tank and the line with the orange safety clip. If you look in the same area on the L/H tank you will see the slanted grove that the fuel line snaps into.......... so with the tank installed it would be the forward, top, left side of the tank.

Out of curiosity, how did you shift into neutral without spilling fuel? Mine started gushing as soon as ACC power was applied.

Something to look for when I change the oil in MIss Daisy this Thursday or Friday.

Wonder if using some zip ties would help keep that line together. Not sure if there's a better solution other than waiting for Toyota to recall it.
