Has anyone tried a fuel tank skid? I’ve reached out to one or two companies and they obviously can’t confirm fit compared to OEM tank. I gouged and dented mine on a pretty rough trail.

Did you by chance contact Victory 4x4? Their skid looks nice & they make them as you order. Hopefully they might mod one up for you.

It’s 5mm think on the bottom. Looks fine.

@BMFS33, may have been referring to the 29 gal main tank replacement vs the 12 gal aux tank.

With the main tank replacement all the fuel weight would be concentrated on one side, putting additional pressure/weight on the Dvr's side suspension components and unequal weight distribution in off-camber situations. With the 12 Aux tank the additional weight would be equally distributed in off-camber situations (well all most there would be 5 gals of fuel deficit on the dvr's side).

So, could you say it would be beneficial to have tha aux tank over the large single tank? Or are there some other issues with the aux?

Other than weight distribution, there is probably less work installing the bigger main tank as I assume they used all the factory tubes/hoses/connections.

Depending on how remote one was planning to travel, installing the larger main tank and the aux tank would be the bomb!

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but could you have a button like some land cruisers did with the AUX tank to fill up the main tank? Or was that button just for switching to the aux tank?

There is no need for a button. There is no pump in the Aux tank, the transfer line coming from the Aux tank to the main tank is connected to where the Fuel pressure sensor (low side) used to be mounted. On the bottom side on the top plate a new tube is added to the system and that tube is attached to a new gismo on the fuel pump assy. I think that new gismo is some type of syphon valve that allows the automatic transfer of fuel when the pressure in the main tank drops below a certain level. I don't think anyone here knows for sure, but that's my best guess.
