On my ‘25 Tundra 32G tank conversion the MTE has never been correct since the install & can’t be, as like your LC, that is hard code in the ECU for the stock size tank.

The fuel gauge will work perfect since it’s just a self contained potentiometer integrated in the fuel pump housing.

By the way, did you go in from the top (removing the second row seats) for the tank electrical connections?

No, I know it had been mentioned but I have a shelving system in the back and didn't want to have to remove that and lift up the carpet etc.

I generally rough math it in my head that I have twice that many miles left to go. I find that to be more true the last hundred miles or so of the tank. And I don’t even get concerned when the miles hit 0 and if says refill. I drove another 30 miles the other day and still only filled up 24 gallons and had driven like 420 or 430 miles. I’m only getting like 17mpg with 33’s and a roof rack too. I’m used to it now and it was super worth it for range.

Old school - just look at the fuel level. MPG works fine, DTE I just learned don’t pay attention to it.
Tundra you can’t go in from the top, & all the connections weren’t fun, but doable, but the electrical was pretty challenging in close quarters with big hands.
You did it - that’s awesome! Congrats again!

Ha yeah i'm not used to seeing the refuel warning come on but it was definitely stressing me out yesterday, even though I knew it was probably wrong. just going to go off the fuel level like @GR8Santini mentioned. don't mind stopping every 450 or so even if it means i'm not fully filling up

Yes........ I'm about 1/2 through my install..... It's taken me longer due to the pictures and write up. I'll post when completed.

i had more than 2-3 gallons in mine and the only leakage is when you disconnect some of the wiring. otherwise the OEM is still long enough that it shouldn't spill out

I was thinking an empty tank might be easier to lower without the weight sloshing around.

it's probably easier but depends on how time consuming/easy it is to pump your gas out into something else. i used a bunch of scrap wood and an extra jack instead. pumping the gas back into the new tank was probably the most tiring part of the process

I ran errands around town till the level got below 1/8 tank. When I dropped the tank, it was a little awkward for one person, but I managed. Waiting for the rain to cease so I can finish.

I had considered, after the tank was on the ground, emptying the remaining fuel, but decided not to. I used some alum A/C duct tape to immediately cover the opening after I extracted the fuel pump and it went seamlessly! The fuel pump modification was a little confusing due to the quickness of FK install video and that quickness leaves a lot to be desired! I didn't take any pictures of the fuel pump modifications as I wanted to get the tank sealed back up as soon as possible, to lessen the chance of contamination etc........ I did screenshot many images from the FK video at the crucial points and will include them in my writeup.

The absolute hardest part, thus far, is removing the tubing/line plastic keepers. I know the keepers by themselves are unobtainium. I have learned from past mishaps not to force them buggers! I have also learned that completely removing them vs just unengaging them, will prevent broken clips and a visit to the salvage yard.

For those of you that have installed this, how has the weight distribution felt on the vehicle? An additional 12 gallons of gas is a lot of additional weight on one side of the vehicle. That has me considering adding the Aux tank instead of the full 29 gallon replacement. I'm definitely ordering something.

I don’t own a Aux tank (yet) but ~72lbs of gas plus tank…. Maybe 100lbs? So far less than most humans sitting on that side.

@BMFS33, may have been referring to the 29 gal main tank replacement vs the 12 gal aux tank.

With the main tank replacement all the fuel weight would be concentrated on one side, putting additional pressure/weight on the Dvr's side suspension components and unequal weight distribution in off-camber situations. With the 12 Aux tank the additional weight would be equally distributed in off-camber situations (well all most there would be 5 gals of fuel deficit on the dvr's side).

On our LCI I don’t feel a difference in ride between empty & a full tank. That’s roughly the same fuel weight impact.

I also didn’t notice a thing going from 22 to 32G in a ‘25 Tundra in ride, lean, etc. after doing a OE tank swap. I know, different vehicle, etc. The weight addition is in between the wheelbase so it’s going to be less impact than if you add weight beyond rear wheels - say where the spare tire goes.

Put a passenger over on that side in rear seat, or go to Costco & load up on the driver side & see if you notice a difference.
Don’t think you will. Trade it all day for more range.

Waiting for someone to manufacture a safer poly tank.

Has anyone tried a fuel tank skid? I’ve reached out to one or two companies and they obviously can’t confirm fit compared to OEM tank. I gouged and dented mine on a pretty rough trail.
