I felt the original comment that started the tangent was on-topic in regards to the transmission, and possibly identifying signs of impending failure...regardless, sometimes the conversation goes off-topic organically, it shouldn't be that big of deal, IMO.

The issue is that we don't know how many transmission issues have been reported or how many have had to be replaced...nor do we have a strict definition of what constitutes "rare"...

Is it less than 1% (1 in 100)? Less than 0.1% (1 in a 1000)? less than 0.01% (1 in 10,000)?...etc.

Toyota sold about 44,000 LCs in North America last year...so the question is, how many of those reported transmission failure and had to have it replaced? Based on the number of reports we see here and elsewhere, I'm gonna guess it's somewhere between the 0.1 and 1% range, or somewhere between 44-440 total for the 2025 model year...but is that accurate? and if so, is that considered "rare"? I can't really answer either of those questions.

Regardless, it does not seem to be something that's occurring to the majority of LC owners, but still quite concerning none the less.
