I need a little help here.

I don’t really have instructions, but I took the roof rack (air brake and noise maker) off of my first edition, Miss Daisy. I’m not sure which direction the little spacer thingamajiggers go, and I don’t have a torque value for the bolts that screw them down.

I don’t have access to the PDFs that I’ve been saving from this forum so I’m totally lost on this right now.

Not sure if it helps, but these are the diagrams I used to install my GX rails. Unsure of torque specs or if it shows what you need, just trying to supply something quick.

I found the torque value for the 8 mm flanged nuts (14 NM), but I can’t figure out which way the little red ‘fingers’ go, towards the center of the roof? Or towards the outside of the roof?

Fingers are toward the outside of the vehicle. I still had that diagram pulled up in one of my browser windows haha!

This guy show the little red legs going to the outside, and also points out the little arrows on the covers, pointing outwards (and to the front i presume, based on mine).

Well crapolla..

My purchasing dealer, and the one I bought the roof rack delete kit from, shorted me 6 hex flange bolts..

Off to the hardware store I go..

Time to find another dealer.

Well not today, but end of last week. Wanted to drive it a few days so I can speak about it a bit. They took photo and added some details. It was a year of thinking...researching...learning about suspensions, tires, and all the details that come with it, when you want it done right. Add to that a 2 day stay 250 miles away. I have a good wife because she is still with me after 1 year of deep dive research on suspension, wheels, offset, tires, etc etc!!

Cleaning up and trying to block the rat cabin entry area under the driver floor area.
Starting to think about the Lexus or Sequoia, if this proves to be as poor of an engineering cost cutting joke as suspected.
Hosing out the interior and a drain area is not acceptable as a reason.
No good rats were harmed in this exercise.

Every time I see those BBS with the non-TRD caps I regret getting rid of mine lol. But I really wanted 17" and 35s. Your FE looks fabulous!

Thank you so much for the offer.. I had to act tonight. Tomorrow I am taking my GF cross country to see the redwoods (her first time).

I went down to Lowe’s, and had to pick out bolts, and adequate washers to mimic the missing OEM flange bolts. Then I asked if they had green lock tite, he laughed.. sent me up the hill to AutoZone. They had a much better copy of the Toyota flanged bolts. So I bought those instead. Came home, and called the GF out into the carport with her red fingernail polish.. She dabbed it on, and I screwed them in.. Then torqued to 14 NM. The Toyota parts guy not only shorted me 6 of the bolts, he also gave me the wrong pieces for the roof gaps.. he gave me 6 for the passenger side. But I just turned them around and they stuck on the drivers side.

So the speed brake/noise maker is gone. I let my GF climb up the ladder and feel MIss Daisy’s roof. She agrees, It felt like 300 grit wet dry sand paper, after it not being able to be washed for the last 13 months. Tomorrow, foam cannon and wash the roof, synthetic Griots clay as many times as it needs it, and a healthy coat of Three In One Griots ceramic wax. That should make her pretty slippery in the air, going down the highway.

For what it’s worth, the plastic caps are supposed to fit “backwards” on one side. All of mine snapped in one way w/ the arrow pointed the same way on one side, and the other way w/ arrow pointed accordingly on the other side. The brackets are what determines their direction, and they are rotated 180 degrees between sides.

Thank you! I am super pleased with the outcome. Still need to dial in the MRR's but I knew that was part of this. At first I was really put off by the cost of those wheels, but glad I went ahead with them.
