Doubtful esp if a defender. They are in serious demand.

Until it’s in the shop all the time with a VERY EXPENSIVE repair bill! People can rave about them and I won’t lie they LOOK COOL… too bad they are not electronically and mechanically reliable. Granted that’s my humble opinion and you can’t change it… I will never buy one… I will leave it to others and their pocket books emptied.

I was offered $62k with 14k miles and was going to trade in for a 2026 Honda Passport Elite HPD for $54k… no sales tax… but I choose to keep my LC! I just could part with it!!!!

Okay. Sounds like you have a Land Cruiser trim without the Premium Pkg. Appreciate the quick response.

Unless YOUR ownership experience can back that up....I had 3 Range Rovers. We ditched the Evoque early because it had the dreaded 9 speed ZF that plagued everything with it back ~2015. Thanks Germany! Loved it except for that . Zero other issues.
Had a 2016 Range Rover Sport 3.0SC for 5.5 year ~60k miles. Changed a few O2 sensors. You could tune that 340/332 up to 456HP/412Tq!!!!! Because it was lighter than the V8, it was just as fast if not faster. Flawless but rode VERY firm.
Had my 2021.5 Range Rover Westminster (3.0TT-smoothest motor ever) for 4.5 years. Changed oil and some fiolters....FLAWLESS.
Prior I had 3 Jaguars...NONE ever needed anything beyond maintenance. Many of those owners are total PRIMA DONNASA, couldn't tell a doip stick from a Schrader valve......read there forums and you quickly realize the stuff they whinw about is......they had one major issue with the 5.0 SC motors (Coyote V8s btw)....timing chain nightmares.....

So this is not opinion, this was 21 years of British ownership. The media plays this stuff up to no end. Clueless Reports hates anything of real quality...I bought the Toyota (very happliy because the dealer was only an hour away v 2.5 for LR.......and I will be honest and tell you they did such a great job on LC250 that I don't miss my RR experience which was special.

Well it sounds like you have the experience with British vehicles. 21 years worth.
I’ve owned Toyotas for….. hell a long time more that three decades. I’ve had numerous other type as well…. Jeeps (three), Nissans ( shitloads), Audi, Hondas, Mercedes (several ), Chevrolet (four) ford and I can go on… I always ended up back to Toyota. I like their reliability, resell, looks, and reactions… do I think they are a bit… “tin like”… YES! But, I cannot find a replacement I like that won’t eat me alive with maintenance costs and repair costs. My wife’s porsche (which I love btw) oil and filter change was $500…. Compared to Toyotas cost….don’t ask me why , I’m sure you can tell me.
My brother owned a jag back in 1989. It was a 1985 sedanXJ6 it was a tank. It was solid and a Beautiful car… but very expensive to repair and sat in garage most of the time for one gremlin after a gremlin.
My brother law brought a defender FOUR DOOR 1990’s TDI from Germany …. It leaks all the time, breakdown all the time, parts are hard to get, and expensive…. It’s cool looking but shit to drive. I’m not a fan. But as stated before they are cool to look at. I’ll stick with my toyota….. but that’s just my humble opinion….

I respectfully disagree. I consider how well a vehicle holds its value as one of the most important factors.

Buying a vehicle (vehicles) that depreciate(s) rapidly is akin to writing a large check every month and working against your overall financial position.

As Warren Buffet says...."Keep an eye on the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves."

Nice, I’m sure that works well for you. I prefer my approach, and look elsewhere for investments.

I don’t think anyone would disagree (except certain cars) that the average car is NOT an investment to make money. But, you are investing in time, enjoyment, and possible resell value . There are several cars out there you can buy CHEAP and probably reliable but resell values in them suck. And there are vehicles that are unreliable and have built a name for them from the PAST which causes sheep like following and therefore causes better resell values. It’s also supply and demand…. As bigger engines fade and gas engines fade more demand is out there for those vehicles… some people do not want a fully electric car! I don’t. When porsche moved to electric their stock and sales dropped almost in half…making gas Porsches worth more to sheep followers . Your investments are not guaranteed as well…
