I ordered one and it's in a container, on a boat, on the ocean somewhere.......LOLLooks like FK came out with an auxiliary tank that ties into the stock fuel pump and gauge, accurately reflecting fill level and MTE:

FK 45L(12 Gallon) Auxiliary Fuel Tank Fit for TOYOTA Land Cruiser 250H
A transmission-side 45L auxiliary fuel tank engineered for the LC250 2.4T Hybrid. Designed to extend driving range without modifying the factory exhaust, hybrid system, or daily driving logicfkoffroad.com
Anyone try this one yet? An extra 12 gallons would be fantastic.
I’m definitely going this route. Can’t wait for the write up EOD.I ordered one and it's in a container, on a boat, on the ocean somewhere.......LOL
I plan on doing an in depth install post once it arrives.
No one I’d rather see install and review this!I ordered one and it's in a container, on a boat, on the ocean somewhere.......LOL

If they do it will be done at the next model refresh since crash testing is (normally) required. But dont get your hopes up, they might give us a gallon or 2 more. My torque-to-failure dealer told me that when owners are asked how they like the LC, they mostly complain about the range. Toyota must be getting the message.Does anyone know if toyota is upgrading the tank size in the next versions? I’m sure they heard the complaints by now.
Very interested to see how the fuel tank monitoring guage and range works.Looks like FK came out with an auxiliary tank that ties into the stock fuel pump and gauge, accurately reflecting fill level and MTE:

They mention how it works on the page for the tank "During operation, range estimate decreases as usual. When auxiliary fuel transfers, the range estimate updates to reflect the increased available fuel — this is a correct and expected operation."Very interested to see how the fuel tank monitoring guage and range works.
Drivers complained about the even shorter range of the LC200 series for 13 years, and Toyota responded by upgrading the transmission mid cycle from six speed to eight speed, which had minimal improvement in mpg or range. If they do it will be done at the next model refresh since crash testing is (normally) required. But dont get your hopes up, they might give us a gallon or 2 more. My torque-to-failure dealer told me that when owners are asked how they like the LC, they mostly complain about the range. Given how that gets calculated I’ll be curious to see how it behaves. They mention how it works on the page for the tank "During operation, range estimate decreases as usual. Sweet, fingers crossed and keep us posted!Update........ it's in port somewhere and I had to fill out customs forms and I hope I did it correctly............ Very intimidating........ we'll see
How long from the time you ordered to show up at port? My dealer ordered the 16 gal for me, but they were on their holiday until the end of the month, my dealer ordered it, they want to see if its something they may want to do it in the future.I ordered one and it's in a container, on a boat, on the ocean somewhere.......LOL

I ordered it 24 Jan 26, filled out the FedEx customs form 25 Feb 26.How long from the time you ordered to show up at port? Thanks
This makes perfect sense. The auxiliary tank is literally acting like a fuel pump filling up the OEM tank. They mention how it works on the page for the tank "During operation, range estimate decreases as usual. When auxiliary fuel transfers, the range estimate updates to reflect the increased available fuel — this is a correct and expected operation."
I could have this totally wrong, but I’m trying to understand the idea that the truck will eventually “learn” the extra capacity from an auxiliary transfer tank and start showing a much larger distance to empty (DTE) that reflects total fuel onboard. This makes perfect sense. The auxiliary tank is literally acting like a fuel pump filling up the OEM tank.
I think they’re basically just referencing the DTE increases slightly post transfer to reflect slight increases available fuel in the main tank. I don’t think they’re talking about it registering additional capacity in the sub tank.I could have this totally wrong, but I’m trying to understand the idea that the truck will eventually “learn” the extra capacity from an auxiliary transfer tank and start showing a much larger distance to empty (DTE) that reflects total fuel onboard.
My understanding is that DTE is calculated from the main tank fuel level sensor and recent MPG. If the aux tank is transferring fuel and keeping the main tank effectively full, the vehicle still only sees that main tank level. So after fill up instead of DTE scaling up to reflect the extra gallons, it seems like DTE would just sit at main tank full capacity gallons x recent mpg for a while because the main tank level isn’t dropping yet.
Once the aux runs dry, the main tank level finally starts decreasing and DTE behaves normally and goes down.
I’m not understanding what would cause the truck to eventually display a permanently larger DTE number that accurately reflects both tanks absent reprogramming the DTE logic.
I know the vehicle can learn recent MPG history, which can change starting DTE after a fill, but that seems different from learning tank size.
Curious if anyone can explain how the vehicle would recognize the additional capacity with the aux tank setup.
Sub tanks are available in this model. So I have no doubt electronically it could be made to work through reprogramming. I just don’t see that as part of the scope of this tank install.
I think reading the claim on the website carefully they’re carefully wording what to expect because it will probably not be what most would expect “During operation, range estimate decreases as usual. When auxiliary fuel transfers, the range estimate updates to reflect the increased available fuel — this is a correct and expected operation.”
Happy to be corrected if I’m missing something.
