I find it funny that you can fish out a lot of haters if you dare to use this as an argument for EV, even if the sole purpose of the car is to drive in the city and highway. What do yall do that you need more than 300 mile range? Isn’t 300 miles all we ever got with regular 4/6/8 cylinder toyotas? Homies in 80 series on 37” tires probably getting 200 mile range and doing ok… there is gas stations every 60 miles in usa where most people live.
Back to the subject, 300 miles do give me a bit of anxiety. The cruising range of my daily drive has 600 miles as a comparison. I can almost drive from NorCal to Vegas without refueling. My plan for the LC is to cruise long distances instead of commuting within the boundary of civilization, which is probably where you came from. I did one trip earlier to drive from Northern California to Jasper Alberta and come back. I’ll have to say that for some part of that route you do have to mind your remaining mileage and better never to drive with gas lower than 1/4. That means just for safe I have to refuel every 200+ miles or so.
I currently only mount one 3 gallon rotopax on the roof. For the future I am considering to carry two NATO jerry cans instead for trips like Baja or Alaska so I have another 200 miles cruising range. That would mean either RTT is out of question, or I will need to modify my rear bumper to carry these additional weights.
