Miss Daisy has three modes available, ECO, normal, Sport. There are threads on these modes on this forum. On a whole other tangent, it seems that the Toyota coders could figure out an option that allows you to invoke an economy mode rather than always in max power mode. After all, aren't most hybrids designed toward fuel economy? The fuel economy on my LC 250 was a bit of a shocker and continues to be the bain of ownership when considering the tank capacity.
Fuel economy on the standard tires is mainly determined by the operator’s driving style in this ‘parallel’ hybrid. This hybrid design is best suited for added low end torque, not necessarily fuel economy (like a Prius). The Car Care Nut has a video on the pulse and glide technique. When traveling, my tank average (calculated at each fill up) is almost always above 27 mpg, and has been as high as 30+ mpg. On fillup, yesterday, Miss Daisy’s DTE was 419 miles. I almost always use ethanol free 93 octane fuel, lesser octane when the 93 octane cannot be found. Pushing a brick through the air is costly above 60 mph… Very costly above 70 mph. Stiff head winds will also kill fuel economy.
