What are you basing ROI on?
I still don't understand.
Assume the extended range tank cost you zero dollars. How does having it save you any money? You pricing out the time saved by less trips to the gas station?

Alright major update guys.
I exchanged half a dozen emails with the FK Offroad guy. Here are the key takeaways:
I did not ask about CARB compliance or CA emissions or any of that stuff. Because A, I don't really care and B, I already know the answer...I'm sure they don't know or won't promise it. That said, I just dropped another email to the guy and will update when I hear back.
So, I'm going to take one for the team and give it a shot. My order is in as of today, I have a 1270 mile one-way road trip coming up in December and if this works I can do it with just two fills!

I exchanged half a dozen emails with the FK Offroad guy. Here are the key takeaways:
- First off, their cs rep's English is excellent. Better than most domestic reps. They are also extremely responsive during chinese business hours.
- I provided my VIN and a photo, their design team is confident the unit will fit without any issues.
- Install is plug and play, totally nondestructive. They provided an install video:
- As you an see from the video, the welds look extremely nice and it appears to be a quality unit.
- It utilizes all of the OEM connections and fuel pump; the truck shouldn't know any difference. They stressed you must use the OEM fuel pump, and don't attempt to use an aftermarket fuel gauge or different pump as it will cause issues. Fuel light will come on with approximately 15L of gas left (4 gal). So approximately 25ga of usable gas until light trips.
- Item ships within 2 days, goes in a container and +/- 45 days to the US. Comes packed in a wooden crate. US delivery handled by a trucking line.
- It ships DDP, which is door to door and includes duties and the like paid by the seller. Shipping cost is $330, so landed cost is around $1550. That was a custom quote to my location (I'm in the pacific northwest). It will show free shipping when you check out but it also says shipping will be handled after the order. You have to get a quote from their customer service before ordering to see your cost. The shipping is paid on a second invoice they send you after you order.
- They take PayPal, among other things. Paypal provides robust buyer protections against just about any issues you can encounter, including items that are misrepresented or do not fit or don't work.
- I have an email that in very good detail and extremely clearly states that if it doesn't fit as advertised, they will make it right with a full refund. Saved that one for the future, obviously to help with any paypal dispute should it come to that.

Based on the video, I have a little more than 99% confidence this is built for Chinese market LC250s and not USDM LC250s. The underside of that Prado is totally different than our LCs. If this were legit, the Chinese company would do the R&D and ship from the US. Selling the tanks within US would protect US buyers of the product a lot more against defects or fraud.
But it's your money, and it looks like you will believe what you want.
Hopefully you have a contingency plan to get your money back, and/or the manufacturer will refund you for paying them to do their R&D work for them.
The manufacturer will probably not want you to make any more posts about these tanks, because that might discourage others from placing orders with this company.

Wikipedia info does not necessarily come from Toyota, but there may be some similarities between the two. The mystery deepens IMO because the China spec Prado TX, WX grades have a six-seat configurations available (according to press releases). Excellent intel, thank you sir! I'm now very tempted, but maybe will wait and see how this pans out. I watched the video as well and it does look nice at least in pictures. I might add one of their skid plates too just in case! Did they say in mils or gauge how thick the tank walls are?
One word of caution as of late, I've been hit with large and unexpected import duties going back and forth on both sides of Canadian border. I don't think this seller or you can control that, but I would take the assurance that all duties are accounted for with a grain of salt.

Yep… the classic “we’ve always been told” routine: the massive battery pack supposedly explains everything — smaller fuel tank, no third row, and probably why you can’t even get one in Nori Green. Funny how the battery gets the blame, yet nobody can explain exactly why beyond "that thing is freaking huge". That “massive” pack takes up a whole three inches, and therefore would make a third row utterly impossible. Right....
Well, hate to ruin the fairy tale, but here it is: a third row perched right on top of that battery pack. Miraculous, isn’t it?

No this replaces the existing main tank. It is not an aux / additional tank.

Seriously dude if you read my post in its entirety, you’d see I’m 100% aware there is a big risk here. I have a contingency in written representations made by the seller and PayPal dispute policy which I read up on in detail. I can’t control a PayPal verdict, but they are buyer friendly as you’d expect from a payment service, and part of their value as a company is protecting you from shady online selling.
Hmmmm, very anxious to know how much lower it hangs and if it really works. If I can keep the spare underneath, this would work for me.

i'll be curious if the Distance Till Empty changes and shows like 550 miles of range... not sure how that logic works in the ECU when changing the capacity. thanks for posting this! install seems ok'ish
I'm not sure why someone would think China based seller would accept US PayPal instead of a credit card if they really offered a high level of buyer protections for what will be 2+months after an overseas transaction that probably will be delivered exactly as ordered.
But I have been able to get a refund from PayPal after a shady $150 deal that never was shipped. Good luck!
