Rattle in driver's B pillar (2024 LC)

Yeah, I read through a few of the threads here so I will check all those locations. its very noticeable unless I absolutely crank my radio beyond comfortable listening. the roads around me are heavily patched so it is constantly rattling.
Went to a different dealership and they found the rattle. One of the roof rack bolts above the b pillar was just a quarter turn loose and apparently was “allowing body panels to chatter” according to the service guy. He said this was super common on last gen 4 runners and they are starting to see it on the new stuff.

Thankfully the rattle is gone now

Where in the car is that exactly?
Honestly not sure, I asked if he could send me a wider shot of the area, and he never did. All he told me was it was about hip height in the b pillar on the inside of the panel. Again they sent it to a body shop to tack weld the overlaying panel. Sorry I haven't been able to get more information.

No worries and thanks for the info. Curious to see how this works for you. I have only a little rattle left on the driver side of the door after a handful of “mods” (cutting off seatbelt tag, sound deadening doors, wd-40 in grab handle, etc.).

My sound only happens every now & then and is sometimes a rattle sound and other times it sounds like the suction on the door / window is reapplying.

It’s not too bad but hoping to get it completely solved!

So far after 175+ miles since I picked it up on Wednesday, no rattle. It's been a joy to drive now. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I tried to upload a video of the sound it was making so others could determine if that is what they are hearing, however when I do, you can't hear it, yet on my iphone it's clear as day.

Update of mine, initially i thought its rattling from b pillar, its now actually from the left front door panel trim contacting the metal door

did all the felt tape on clips inside etc. and put rubber on the door latch, its so much better now.

But still happening every now and then during to temp changes. Still havent locate exactly where the rattling point.

For u guys thinking its from the b pillar, try to put ur hand on the door trim to see if it fix it.

I wonder if putting some butyl tape and or sound deadening material in there would do the trick. I only bring this up since I am taking my car in to get some sound deadening material installed in floor boards and maybe headliner, so was thinking I’d maybe ask them to do the b pillar too.

@shwazz714 If he can locate the area I posted the picture of, and can tape and put some material there, that would probably work as well, if it will keep the metal from moving against each other. Unfortunately I never removed the b pillar coverings because I didn't want the dealership to come back and say I caused the issue, so I never saw the area myself that they said was causing the problem.

Do you have the instructions on how to remove the B pillar body panels? I’ve hear ‘running water’ noise inside the drivers side B pillar during a torrential downpour that required me pulling over, off the road, until the rain subsided.
I don’t have instructions. I’m used to removing interior panels with trim tools from back in the day installing stereo equipment. Most panels just have retention clips. No screws to remove the B panel cover at the bottom. The upper B panel panel has two lower retention clips that need to be removed so do the lower one first and then the upper.

Trying to keep the rattles consolidated. I get on occasionally from expansion joints on the highway. It sounds like a short buzz, rather than a continuous rattle of something jiggling. My hearing absolutely sucks (Menieres with hearing aids at this point ) so I cannot pinpoint it, but it sounds like it’s in the front dash. Any help appreciated-
I not only have the B pillar rattle, but experience this noise coming the same area. The cheap plastic surround for the head up display had a lot of play in it.

So my land cruiser has been at the dealership for 3 weeks now, I recieved a call from them Wednesday, they claimed to have located the sound comimg from the B pillar, see attached pic, said these three welds are the culprit. Sent my vehicle to a body shop to do the welds, service manager said their body shop folks weren't proficient enough to do the welding. He called me last night and said they were going to drive the car today and saturday to make the sound doesn't come back. I will update when I hear more. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
That’s a step in the right direction. I’ve ruled out door cards, loose wire, sound deadened everything, adjusted strikers, seatbelt attachment points, and put felt padding on fuel door. I also had Toyota replace the entire seatbelt assembly for drivers side. None of it helped. It’s definitely coming from poor welds and metallic tapping of the panels.

I tightened mine down from the outside and didn’t notice any change. Did they tighten it down from the inside beneath roof panel?

Want to give you guys have an update. My rattle is gone for now, i told the dealership when you pull the door from inside the rattle disappears. So they adjusted the striker and now the rattle is gone. Hopefully it won’t come back. But make sure before you leave the dealership make sure that the gap of the door is not that big.

What striker did they adjust? I have mostly gotten rid of any rattle but still feel as though the door may not be properly aligned bc I hear some play in the door when hitting bumps every now and then.

This is what they adjust. They told me they didn’t adjust the door just the striker.

The B-pillar rattle is finally gone! My dealer (two different Toyota dealerships) would not fix it. I finally removed the B-pillar cover, tapped-welded the sites (red dashes), and added felt behind the seatbelt assembly attachment. I then covered the area with sound-deadening sheets. So far so good. Everything else (door striker, door card, mirror, grab handles, etc. we’re not the source). Toyota has yet to create a TSB for it. On a side note, SIX Toyota N. America executives “retired” (forced out) in 2025 and their roles included VP Quality, Senior manufacturing, VP manufacturing, Chief technology, and so on. Toyota is aware of its shortcomings and this isn’t a good look. Hopefully, they fix other members' rattles and create a TSB soon.
