Rattle in driver's B pillar (2024 LC)

That’s what I’m afraid of with mine. Going to
A dealer and wasting my time and be in a loaner. Since this is temperature related I have until next summer to attempt to fix this myself. Time to learn welding lol

Hello all. I read through all the pages of this thread and wanted to share my experience with a rattle in the same area. Was convinced it was going to be a dealer trip.

Turned out to be a loose port installed accessory roof rack. After finding the wind deflector comically loose, I found 50% of the fasteners were finger tight as well. Easy check/fix.

I had a rattle coming from the drivers side door area which stopped when I pulled on the inside handle. I worked out that with the door open if I pushed and pulled on the striker mounted on the pillar that I could reproduce the noise so I undid the bolts and attached small thin rubber adhesive pieces on either side of the striker piece and re-attached. This fixed the problem for me. There must be a small gap between the striker plate and the pillar and it moves inward and outwards as the door vibrates and inserting the rubber made it fit firm.

I have had my 2025 Land Cruiser now for 4 months and have been following this thread now that I’ve started to have the B pillar rattle. Mine is heard on smooth pavement when I go over small bumps. This video is on smooth pavement on a section where they’ve put sealant over cracks in the road. The noise is directly behind the upper seatbelt mount in the B pillar. It drives me nuts, and the dealer couldn’t replicate it. I’m tempted to try to remove the paneling to check it out, but I’m afraid I’ll break something. Really hoping they put a TSB out.

I have been hearing this exact same noise as you. it’s very tinny.

So far the following have been mentioned in this thread and on Facebook:

  • seatbelt pulley mechanism
  • roof rack
  • door striker
  • bad welds
  • loose wiring inside door
  • side view mirror
  • gas cap door
  • retracting grab handle
  • door card contacting metal doorframe

I guess I’ll be hunting it down this weekend…

Looks like we’ve been on all the same sites. My bet is on bad welds on the sheet metal, as it sounds like two thin sheets of metal tapping together. This also matches the same location/sound Dark_Horse was having the issue (now fixed). On one of the Lexus GX550 forums they had success just shooting some silicone in between the welds so they aren’t tapping together.

Welcome to the asylum.

I was thinking that right around the time this started for me was the first time I used the height adjuster on the seatbelt. Today on a drive, I discovered that holding the button down stopped the rattle. I taped the button down, and just got done with another 50 mile drive - this time rattle-free. I’m going to take it back to the dealer with these findings and hopefully get a new seatbelt height adjuster under warranty.

This was an issue for me too. I duck taped it lol

The very first time I heard it my first thought was a washer was loose in the door.. then realized it was coming from the column. Odd thing is, I won’t hear for three or four weeks then suddenly it comes back.
I’m curious if this rattle is only on ones that came off the assembly line early on. Does anybody that has a rattle have either a 2025 or 2026?? Mine is a ‘24

Well, the rattle wasn’t from my seatbelt mechanism, as it still persisted a few days later. I found though that when I had the car parked and the door open, banging on the top left of the door produced the rattle. I traced the sound to the side mirror (as another user experienced), and sure enough, that’s where the rattle has been coming from this whole time. It’s crazy that it sounds as though it’s coming from the b-pillar when driving.

I used a credit card to wedge some pieces of foam between the side mirror base and the door, and this has stopped the rattle for what’s now been a week. I’m going to have the dealership open the door panel at the next service and ensure the mirror gets tightened and/or they apply a more permanent solution.

The dreaded rattle has just start in my LC, I was hoping it was due to the cold weather, but no it's not. I plan on opening up the door for a Door pull light and some sound deadening, Hopefully I'll find something concerning the rattle when I do......

Hello everyone, this is my issue, the one on my LC 250 driver side rattles and the vibration comes through the cabin (B-Pillar) resulting in a metallic vibration/sound on every little bump on the road. Toyota is getting corporate involved since the dealership doesn't want to make any decisions on resolution.

Ha! You might have just saved in hours of hunting.......LOL That sounds very similar to what I'm hearing. I need to check mine, if mine rattles, I might remove the striker and see if I can weld the back side of it.

It drove me nuts for months. The noise travels into the cabin and onto my left ear. I tried to ask the dealership to either remove the striker, replace it, or check if it was a tightening issue. They would not touch it unless Toyota corporate looks at it first; they told me not to touch it to avoid warranty issues. They also mention involving a body shop.
