(Sierras)Nyak Observatory site, 7.18.2026
I know a lot of astronomers that visit the blue canyon site. If you like observatories, go visit the Community Observatory in Placerville (Hwy 50). It’s free and built just for the public (Rotary’s 100th birthday project). Research grade telescopes, outside sky theater, planet walk, etc. (was a longtime docent there and chief Docent almost a decade ago). They have solar scopes on 1st Saturday of the month too (check the calendar on their website for locations and open/closed status).

Here is a couple from this weekend in Washington off Mountain Loop Road by a creek. Girlfriend and I slept in the back. Not the best sleep. But was ok. Great camp setup and Rigd ultimate table and cook stove holder.

Is that a hitch mounted swing out for your spare? Who makes it?

Got to get some time in with dirt roads, awesome vista, and granite rocks. Lockers, Sway bar disconnect, and Crawl Control came in handy in many places here. Stock unit handles it all effortlessly.
