Is this a tent that connects to the rear of the Land Cruiser ? If so how do you like it? How does it do if it’s windy; would the connection/bungees wear on the paint??

Kelty Sideroads

I did a little research, and decided on this Kelty shelter. I sleep in the back of my LC. The shelter adds a little space out of the rain and snow, and gives me the ability to sit around an IGNIK fireplace. Also, will provide great shade in the desert in the summer. I also thought about the possibility of it rubbing in the wind. The top lays on the roof-rack and the straps can be used to secure it to the roof-rack, or longer straps to the tires, etc. I don't think rubbing on the paint will be an issue, but it's something I'll watch for. It also allows the hatch to be raised and lowered while it's in place. Packs up very small too. More pics from inside:

Thanks for the information. It’s looks like nice but also practical solution for some shade and to get out of the weather. We have been searching for something as well.

BTW: Got into some deep stuff today with mine (finally) after about 14 inches of snow and sleet yesterday. On normal road/snow conditions it did fine, but I did switch to "deep snow" mode once I got off the beaten path and it was a big improvement. The LC just churned right on through. Didn't stop for a picture. We finally have options to get some photos, though.

Coming home last week on our road trip. This is on HWY 395 over look above Mono Lake. I was told by a truck driver at the view point the lake would normally be visible and the cloud cover like this is very unusual to see.

I pulled off the road so I could shovel/snowblow my driveway, and i got myself stuck. DOH! Nevermind all the snow that stuck to the wheels and suspension. I thought I was going to lose a filling driving to work. Thankfully I was able to melt it in our warehouse.

Had a good storm here yesterday. Boy, those sensors and radar don't like the snow/ice at all!

I love the volatility of weather in the mountains. When we drove this route a few hours earlier it was snow free and warm. Headed back was more fun!
