This is quite a ridiculous statement. It is elementary to understand that the more you pay for a vehicle the better quality and options you should expect. There is no amount of abuse you guys won't tolerate as long as it says Toyota on it. My time is worth more to me than anything and the last thing I want to do is waste my time at the dealer and waiting 3 weeks because there are 10 shitbox corollas and 5 Tacomas with leaking timing covers ahead of me. And then I have to argue with the underwriter for a loaner. No thanks. I expect more for 70K, especially when every door panel and hood is paper thin and sounds like my 78 VW Rabbit I had when I was a kid every time I closed the door. Don't even get me started on the incredibly cheap Chinese plastics that cover ever square inch of the LC. But hey it's your money, right? so if you like it, good on ya.$70K? And we are off…
What difference does it make in how much a vehicle cost if there is an issue? A Land Cruiser whether someone paid $50K or $80K is just another model in Toyota’s line up. How much you spent on it is irrelevant. Toyota brand should take care of you no matter which of their models you have if you’re under warranty.
Said it before, these elitist views are starting to sound straight out of the GX550 forum.
Im with you,Ah man, that was my wife’s cruiser, and it was totaled…. Mine had never been wrecked but it did have some brush pin-striping and a couple dents. Dealer didn’t seem to care or even see it in person til after the negotiations were made. It’s a small dealership in central Texas farm area. I even commented to my the manager that they may have a hard time selling a car like this in the country. He told me the owners family owns a Toyota dealership in California and that’s where they’re sending it. For anyone curious, I traded a ‘25 1958 with 19,800 miles and got $53k. Not bad for a year and a half of fun.
Hint: Get a copy of Forscan and the recommended OBDII connector and mod your Ford to work the way you want. All the annoying nanny things can be fixed.I’m out! Got a great deal and traded my LC in for a ‘27 F250 XL Off-road with the 35in Off-Road package (sleeper Tremor package). Couldn’t be a better dream truck for me…perfectly simple and plain with crazy off-roadability. Back in a full size heavy duty truck and it feels great. Not a dang thing was wrong with the LC, but we are purchasing an RV travel trailer as well as just spending more time managing the family ranches, and the current setup just wasn’t working.
A while back I posted about a perceived lack of fellow LC drivers giving the two finger off the wheel wave or anything and I kid you not, while driving to the Ford dealership today to seal the deal, a guy across the intersection from me driving a sweet 80’s series looked over and gave me a wave. I felt like that was a really cool way to go out. So, thanks everyone and take care!
