J250 Wind Noise, Upgrading to the GX 550's acoustic front door glass (yes, you can!)

Beware, I used to work for Lexus running parts, Allot of the windshields and windows came in broken, we had to open the box and check everyone of them as soon as they came in. So I would go to dealer and pick it up if I was buying one, which I might do.

Yikes! Yeah, the parts employee opened the box on mine to both verify that it was the double-pane glass and to verify that it wasn’t broken. I think he was also covering his ass, because he wanted it on the record that it left the dealership intact, in case I later broke or cracked it and tried to blame him/them.

question for those that have purchased this glass, did you buy it online and have it shipped to you, or did you go through a local Lexus dealership parts department? thanks!
I tried to order online from Oxnard (was cheaper) but they cancelled as they wouldn’t ship it to me for fear of it braking.

Ordered from Lexus Carlsbad instead and with no shipping cost it was only $100 more total. Having them install it on Friday

I got one pane delivered cleanly from AZ to OH, but the second cracked due to mishandling. Waiting on its replacement, which is due here on Saturday. Fingers crossed. If this one doesn't make it then I'm headed to a local dealership.

i asked Toyota El Cajon if they'd install the Lexus glass in my LC, they said no. since it's not "OEM" Toyota part, they won't take responsibility. it looks easy as pie for a DIY project. just need to source the glass

Welcome to the asylum.

Yeah I agree it’s easy DIY, I opted to have Lexus do it just to save time - have to go there to pick up the glass anyway, so will just have them install while I work

i tried to order the clips and the order was cancelled today due to being on backorder with no ETA from the manufacturer for availability... damn you guys, bought up all the inventory! lol

Got these installed today - noticeable difference in quietness.

I’ve done the doors (myself), trunk and floor lining (professional) with sound deadening material.

Windows feel like biggest improvement in interior sound. The doors is a nice improvement inside but probably nicer in the getting rid of that “tinny” sound

Did Lexus install them for you? What was the cost for labor if you don't mind my asking. Curious if its a quick DIY job, if its a quick and cheap job for the dealer to knock out.

nice. Lexus C’Bad did it? How much did they charge you for the install? This is probably the route I’ll go and have them install …don’t trust myself to DIY it.

Yes had Lexus Cbad do it - tbh I would do it myself if I had to do it again. It was close to $500 for the install and I have taken my door cards off before, I don’t think that’s worth paying someone $500 for. In retrospect I would 100% do it myself, but overall I’m happy with the noise reduction so it is what it is now

is there a video available anywhere of the install? was planning to add deadening material but if i'm taking the door apart anyway might as well do the glass too if its easy.

I found this video but not sure if the method applies to changing the window on the LC -
