Met up with fellow forum user LC58 and bought his GX wheels and tires. He also had some oem rock sliders hanging around that I also bought. 🤘

Got my lift installed yesterday. Dobinsons IMS, 2.5" up front and 2" in the back. I went with the red springs and also swapped the UCAs to billet, replaced the panhard rod and swaybar link, got a diff drop, and had an alignment done. I take it back in a few hundred miles to double check that nothing has loosened up and that the alignment is still good. Stellar Built Off-Road in Sacramento did a great job. I would definitely recommend them if you're looking for a shop in the area.

While I’m chronically compelled to keep my interiors pristine, I’ve long lost the compulsion to wash my vehicles much more than necessity dictates. That said, I frequently do quick spray jobs with the pressure washer and foaming soap to remove corrosives, bird doo and bug goo. However, for only the second time, Bruiser got himself a proper bath and photo shoot. Reminds me why I chose this color all over again.

Can I ask where/who you bought the rear molle panels from? Do they require any drilling or potential destruction in the car?
That is an awesome setup, I wish I had seen this a while ago because this was one of the ideas I was envisioning for a while going back and forth on a storage platform. I've ultimately ordered a Colfax storage platform which I am beyond excited to get and install, but this setup is so cool! I could potentially see getting some molle panels like this in additional to the platform I got coming for multi-purpose wants/needs I'm slowly doing with my LC. Thanks for sharing and posting this!
 
Dialing in my portable lounge leaning into a Japanese style setup. The gap between the rear hatch and battery is the perfect spot to tuck away a small table. Might add some reclining floor chairs next hopefully they can double as a way to level the floor when laid flat. Fun stuff.

Screenshot (16).webpthere are multiple configurations and vendors that have the same thing. In hid sight I would try to order only the side molle panels because they anchor everything else. The shelf they sell was way too small for what I needed.
 
After a lot of thought, I finally decided to build my black 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser First Edition into what I always imagined a modern Toyota skunkworks / heritage-performance version of the LC250 could look like.


The goal is NOT:


  • an overland influencer build
  • a crawler
  • a SEMA truck
  • or a “look at all my accessories” project

This is primarily a highway-driven vehicle designed around OEM+ refinement, understated capability, long-distance comfort, and factory-level integration.


I wanted something that felt like:
“what Toyota engineers might quietly build for themselves.”


Finalized build direction:


SUSPENSION / CHASSIS


  • ICON suspension system tuned to ~1.75” lift
  • Highway-biased ride tuning
  • Differential lift included
  • Westcott zero-degree sliders
  • 34” Falken Wildpeak AT4W tires
  • OEM First Edition black wheels retained

FRONT END


  • DV8 Centric bumper ONLY (not full wings)
  • Hidden 12k winch
  • Hidden DV8 integrated 10” LED bar
  • Rigid amber/white pods
  • Red DV8 recovery hooks
  • OEM+ Viper cut with finished edge trim

REAR / EXTERIOR


  • Rago full rear bumper
  • Westcott low-profile 3/4 roof rack mounted as low as possible
  • NO ladders
  • NO external tire carrier
  • NO jerry cans / molle panels / expedition accessories

FINISH


  • Full-body ultra-low-sheen stealth satin PPF planned
  • Ceramic coating over film
  • Goal is subtle graphite-like satin, not tactical matte

What I found interesting is that the build actually ends up substantially improving capability while still preserving a restrained OEM feel.


ESTIMATED PERFORMANCE / CAPABILITY CHANGES


Factory LC250 First Edition:


  • ~31° approach angle
  • ~22° departure angle
  • ~8.7” ground clearance
  • ~700mm water fording

Estimated final setup:


  • ~37–39° approach angle
  • ~30–32° departure angle
  • ~11–12” effective clearance at key points
  • significantly improved breakover and underbody survivability
  • improved high-speed washboard stability
  • improved tire sidewall protection and puncture resistance
  • improved highway composure versus many taller/larger lifts

What I specifically did NOT want:


  • huge lift
  • compromised highway manners
  • roof-top circus aesthetics
  • excessive weight
  • visual noise
  • “broverland” styling

The philosophy was capability through restraint.

At this point I’d mainly love input from people with:


  • long-term stealth/satin PPF experience
  • ultra-low-sheen satin recommendations
  • installer recommendations

Sounds like a good plan, the truck looks great as is, just a few enhancements to make it better - or how it should have come from the factory.

I took a similar approach but used the OME MT64 (given the close relationship between Toyota and ARB) with OEM FE wheels and 34” Toyos. Added airbags to the rear springs to allow for leveling under load, and also added solid wood worx drawers to store everything.

Still getting 18.5mpg and it rides great, better than OEM.

I don’t think I follow (and it may be the AI noise I’m getting lost in). The stated goal is long distance highway performance, but then the build list includes a lift, rock sliders, A/T tires, a winch, viper cuts, and offroad lightbar. Those things are all suited for off-roading and will degrade highway performance.

Shhhhhh... that was just post 1. We gotta give them a couple more posts to see if they continue to bot out, or if it was a one-time instance of botish behavior. My immediate thoughts were: 1) Why not just start a build thread? and 2) When did this thread go from "What have you done..." to "What do you want to do..."? :ROFLMAO: I'm still hoping it's innocent enough.
