Did a good hand wash after a week in the rain. Had some time today so installed:

• TRD LC skid plate
• Full Time 4x4 badging on cowl & tailgate
• Hardwired pin plug for powering Valentine One
• Locking pin on receiver hitch

Been playing around on that cowl emblem. The black out version is aftermarket & you can find on Amazon. They’re metal & seem ok -

I used this mount with the magnetic feet. Works awesome. It’s definitely difficult to get off. I would suggest the handle as an extra cost item also. I don’t have it but wish I did.

2) Installed new TPMS sensors into a set of forged TRD BBS wheels and mounted them.

3) Promptly went to the local trail and redirty'd the '58.

Installed the JDM sideview mirrors. Install was super easy. Been driving with them for a few weeks now. Since they have a parabolic/fisheye shape, I feel like my blind spots are gone. Also, they have a hydrophobic coating (hence the blue tint). Definitely has been helpful during rain and mud season here in New England.

10/10. Can recommend.

What was the process of installation like? I remember switching my FJ mirrors and it was nerve racking trying to get that mirror out without breaking it.

replaced the stock Yokohama's with BFG 34x10.5xr17, Tacoma steelies. rock rails and air compressor the last of the garage parts that need installed.
got 18,000 miles out of the Yokohama's and probably could have squeezed out a few thousand more

I found this document here on the forum. Also, I happen to have a trim tool kit with the exact tool pictured. That being said, it was still nerve racking! Definitely a leap of faith.

Maybe it’s because the name already exists — bearlock.com — or because installation is an absolute nightmare. It took a skilled technician four hours to modify my car! Or perhaps it’s because the whole process feels quite opaque: you can’t see the parts, get any pictures, or install it yourself, you just pay and hope for the best.


That said, it seems to work well: it locks in one second and has a smooth, solid mechanical feel when locking and unlocking. It did take me a bit of time to get used to the key, and since the lock is on the passenger side, it’s not the most convenient.

And it effectively lock the shifter in park.

Since the company is in UK & would design for RHD vehicles, makes sense the lock is setup would be on the right side of the console for those drivers.
