29gal Main Fuel Tank Install

Is Ed Martin dong the 29gal fuel tank install? Thats a heck of a lot closer for me.

Hi, yes I have been in contact with them quite regularly. They are actually setting me up with a wholesale account hopefully. So I can get much better pricing and tax exemption. It’s just taking a little while to get that set up. They are reviewing my application right now, and since I’ve submitted it Wednesday, they did respond saying they received it but I haven’t gotten confirmation that they set me up yet.

The 16-gallon aux tank--that doesn't seem to require any exhaust or spare-tire rerouting--would be perfect for me. I'm sure I could have an off-road shop around here do it.

I think the FK 16 gallon tank requires exhaust modification, the FK 12 gallon does not.

I may have missed this, but with the 12 gal auxiliary tank is distance to empty display correct?

I’m guessing it’ll stay at full (~280 miles) for quite a bit longer, but hoping that once you empty the aux tank then you get an accurate display to empty.

I know the OP who did just one main tank said the distance to empty doesn’t work anymore but curious if the aux is any different.

Curious why you went with auxiliary instead of main? I thought auxiliary might have more potential issues so was leaning towards main. I'm still debating which to get.

My thoughts: OEM 17gal plus the 12 gal aux = 29 gal.
Weight balance is better with the aux being on the dvr's side vs 29gal main, all the weight is pass side.
I still have my GX tank that I plan on trying to install which is approx 5 more gals + aux = 34 gal.

I do as well. Install doesn’t look too bad with a lift and I found a place not too far from me that rents lifts by the hour. Hopefully a Spring project.

When mine gets here and it warms up, I plan on doing the install myself in the driveway with jackstands or wheels blocks. If I had a lift, I'd def be doing that as I've already removed the OEM tank using a lift on another attempted mod and I'm sure laying on my back will be much harder......LOL

Should be uneventful, I have a HF lift table that I'll be modifying the push bar (maybe) and use it to lower the OEM tank for the fuel pump cage modification. and then use it to lift the aux tank into position.

While I have the OEM tank out, I'm going to attempt to modify the GX 550 tank as the pictures I took on the initial swap/try, were not detailed enough to attempt to use a heat gun to modify the GX tank. hopefully I'll end up with 34 gals of fuel capacity (or close to it).

I'm hoping the kit comes with written instructions (even if they're written in Chinese) to assist with the new cable/pipe routing, even if it's just pictures......LOL While the video is very good, it's hard to hang a laptop on the frame rail for reference......
