TRD performance exhaust installed.

Mpg up .1 to 17.8. It’s been climbing with the warmer weather. It would seem that at least the exhaust is not interfering with that. I’ll have to check to see what it’s doing on the morning trips to the office. I forgot to check today.

I just purchased mine. I thought about the Magnaflow but decided to stick with Toyota parts.

I finally had the exhaust installed today.

So first let me just say that I may very well be an outlier on this, because if I'm honest I absolutely hated that sewing machine sound of the stock exhaust. I have to say that I felt a tremendous relief hearing that sound gone.

That said the other thing that concerned me in making this change was that it would be too loud. I mean it's a Landcruiser I did not want it sound obnoxious. And at least for me it does not. It is a nice deep guttural sound that to my ear is how I imagined this machine should sound.

If I gain any more insights on the sound I will follow up.

As far as the installation, I made a few calls and the pricing varied wildly. I had it done by a local muffler shop, they did the install in less than an hour and they charged very little.
Good to know. That exhaust is at my dealer waiting for my LC 250 to arrive.

Any boost in HP?
Pretty much everything in the modern car nowadays is controlled by chips when it comes to performance. I'm only getting it for sound and tuck. I also have the disease known as G.A.S.. I look totally normal but have chronic G.A.S. :ROFLMAO:

Does anyone know if the TRD one is stainless steel? I’ve looked at all the descriptors I can find and it doesn’t say. I can hardly imagine it’d just be aluminized.

If you do a build of the Landcruiser under performance it list the exhaust and in the details it shows this:

Transform your vehicle with the performance cat-back exhaust for ultimate performance and a powerful sound.
•Crafted from stainless steel for lasting strength
•More sporty, aggressive tone to amplify your drive
•Shed some weight with mass reduction compared to the standard
exhaust for sharper handling
•Improved flow for better engine efficiency compared to the standard

Man I couldn’t find that anywhere - thanks.
I laugh at the part where it reads “for sharper handling”

Does anyone know if you actually need the ptr0360240aa 4Runner exhaust hardware or can the hardware on stock exhaust be utilized?

That should tell you all you need to know about the performance effects of aftermarket exhaust.

It’s 100% about sound, anybody who says otherwise is selling the exhaust.

It also tucks up further away for better departure angle. I noticed a difference on my 4Runner with the Borla catback system and TRD coldair intake but it was very slight. Could be a placebo effect? :unsure:hmmm...

Fair. I’ll concede that the design could affect departure angle one way or the other.

Can anybody who has installed the Toyota Performance Exhaust take a picture to show the gap between the Tail pipe and the spare tyre?

Is there more gap between the spare tyre and the tailpipe when you have the Toyota Performance Exhaust vs. OEM exhaust tailpipe
