That sort of data doesn’t translate across countries - different mix of vehicles and the characteristics of the countries are so different - in the UK it was for a number of years the Range River models at the top of the list but earlier this year the Hi-lux became the most stolen vehicle which must be across rural not urban areas

(I tried to verify this )

In fact the reports I found for summer 2025 were saying most stolen were large volume smaller fords like the fiesta so not sure now - it was definitely reported that the Hi-lux had taken over from the Range Rover but that could have been bum info

Besides the steering wheel lock, I just added the 41.22 drop-in kill switch to my LC. (please see my recent post if interested )
Now If thefts can break through that 2 layers of security, then they are earned the LC ( hard working and smart damn sh…)

Serious law and order will be more effective than any anti-theft devices.
thefts know you cannot stop them even they steal your rig in front of you ( you cannot harm them! WT…law).
And even police catch them…next day, they walk on street and steal people vehicles again!
Very sorry to bring this up…but it is the reality we are facing to!!! Crazy!

Mods accepting I am complicit in starting and adding to “stolen” threads do we think it’s wise to discuss the “how to” on a public forum

Maybe we delete the threads and focus on the how to stop more than reciting the actual means to steal our vehicles

Just a thought - maybe the bad people already know but feels self defeating and having had two attacks I kind of feel a little vulnerable

And rope is even cheaper than a bullet to the head........slow and painful too. We are FAR too soft on crime in democratic parts of the world.

So one instance where the police force were cowards and didn't do their jobs is an excuse to not have an armed citizenry? Am I getting this right?

The events of Uvalde are a perfect example of why willing and able citizens SHOULD be armed, with guns.

You clearly missed it. And dont have the facts straight.

The police who initially responded didn't do anything correctly, and despite being warned refused to enter and engage the shooter. Ultimately Border Patrol agents (parents of students at the school) entered and shot/killed the gunman.

Had any responsible citizen/teacher been armed at the school, they could have engaged the suspect sooner.

Look up Spring Texas. Church shooting. Another crazed gunman, who was engaged by a citizen who was nearby and armed. He shot and ultimately killed the gunman, preventing an even worse slaughter. Plenty of instances, IN TEXAS, where armed citizens have responded and stopped would be killers/violent criminals.

Scenario: where the “law and order” is a joke, you see 2 big “human” thefts “working” in your vehicle to steal away just right INFRONT of you, what will you do?

1. Fish fight with them: you can’t stop them because they are 2 and/or with “weapons” (not necessary guns, but can be metal sticks)
Cannot use force such as your firearms to equalize and stop the thefts because of “stupid so-called law”, especially, in CA, NY…and Canada !

2. Calling help from people around (if someone around): no one wants to involve because of “serious troubles” in “stupid” so-called law District Attorney

3. Hopeless to call police and insurance to do the “report after fact” while watch your vehicle gone with thefts

2+3 to encourage thefts to steal more !

Please NO need crazy arguments politically. Just common sense as law abiding victims! I have my own view, but want to share and learn neutrality with all of you

It used to be the case that if someone was attempting to steal your horse, that was considered a threat you could use deadly force to prevent. The automobile is the modern equivalent. IMHO, if someone is actively attempting to steal your vehicle (means of transportation and thus essential for your day to day livelihood), and you come upon them mid act, deadly force as a response SHOULD BE legal.

There are plenty of public web pages with far more detail, and a lot is required beyond cutting a hole which is about as far as we've got in terms of detail.

Wow! Was not aware the CAN bus could be hacked from headlight or bumper wiring. Allegedly, for the 2027 MY this vulnerability has been mitigated.

Unless the criminal community learn that the vehicle is now protected from the Canbus style attack they will carry on cutting holes in LCs and owners will have the insurance costs

Mine was not successfully stolen but it was damaged and made effectively uninsurable as a result of the repeated damage

Hope Toyota can address the issue for you all - as things stand the UK would not be a good place to own one just simply as a result of the noise around them amongst the criminal community
