Yes. Went with Recon Grapplers to keep the tread less aggressive and SLs to try to keep the weight down. I don't do any serious rock crawling. Just wanted something that gets me to the fishing holes and shooting spots out in the desert. Now that we are back to driving around Phoenix the average is up to 18.5 mpg already. The adaptive cruise control rocks. I just need to set it lower than 78mph!
I think your efficiency will improve for sure. As you already know, our LCs really benefit from <70mph cruising IRT efficiency. That ROI is logarithmic too, as I’ll see 24-25mpg @ 60mph, 20-23 @ 65mph, and 16-17 @ 70mph+. If you can resist the urge to keep up with everyone around you, you will see massive improvements.
Jesus, my 2003 V8 4R didn’t even get that, it did before the ethanol switch, but not after. Maybe, big maybe on the interstate. I put 250k on that truck, loved it. No mods other than Bilstein 5100’s when the XReas started leaking. Mine was the AWD version though.
Still going strong. My 16 year old wanted it for herself. I had to replace the XREAS shocks and while back. I hear that can only be done once without losing too much fluid for the system to function properly. Same AWD. There are few 4Runner trims with AWD now. It made the move the the LC easier.
Oh, my Lie-O-Meter would read 16.x, but using a calculator I was getting around 14'ish. The Lie-O-Meter in my LC is actually fairly accurate. In fact it and the speedometer actually got more accurate when I went up a size in tires (on the LC).
Miss Daisy’s Lie-O-Meter is almost always within 0.2 to 0.4 MPG when I measure MPG’s at the pump, when traveling. Mixed driving (multiple trips) is where I can see some drift from actual numbers.
My mileage seams to be getting better.
Interesting enough, I ran mine down to 0 miles DTE this morning. It ticked down to 0 as I was pulling into my favored station. Tourists have been sucking up the gas there so the pumps are running super slow. I’m talking 5-10 minutes to get 15 gallons slow.
Thats strange. The time I ran mine down to 0 was on a rural highway. I was panicking because there seemed to be little to no warning, unlike the 20mile range bright yellow light on my 4runner. When I pulled in to fill up I was only able to get 15.6 gallons in the tank. That had me believing the LC had a 16 gallon tank like the reviewer in the article posted. Either way, I'm not gonna chance it again. Thanks.
That has happened to me ONE time. When the tanks get low, the pumps slow way down. They ran so slow one time that the pump did NOT shut off until the gasoline was right up in the filler neck to where it almost overflowed.
