Lifetime Average MPG

I got almost 19 yesterday, which included mountain driving and 4 wheeling. Impossible for me to complain about that number.

19.2 MPG Nitto Ridge Grappler 265/70R18 stock 2025 LC trim anthracite wheels 14,500 miles Dallas, TX

18.7 MPG with just over 4,000 miles. Mainly suburban driving, with one 2,000 miles trip (TX to WI). Driving very gently all the time. Sincerely, not what I expected.

2024 LC 1958. 20,500 miles. BF Goodrich off-road tires 255/70-18 (so just a tad bigger than stock). Lifetime fuel economy is 21.9 mpg so far. About 60% city, 40% highway driving. ALWAYS using Premium gas from Top Tier distributors. During a couple of long distance road trips (Tucson to Denver and back, Tucson to Seattle and back), manually calculated average was ~23 mpg with average speed of 75 mph. Not back for a "brick on wheels".

You're getting there... Recommend you give it another 4000 miles- trip to Houston a week ago. Premium on the way down, regular on the way back and 75ish for much of the way

24 First Edition

OEM Michelins

93 octane ETHANOL FREE

Speed limit on secondary roads, 62 - 65 on limited access highways.

ECO mode, cruise control unless in hilly areas, then just easy on the pedal, trying not to get a lot of turbo boost involved.
EDIT: I also removed the First Edition rooftop AirBrake/Noise generator… which was good for another 2 mpg.

We made a repeat trip from Cherokee county NC to Murfreesboro TN (~ 200 miles one way) for my GF’s follow-up eye surgery appointment. The Last time we made the trip (there’s a post here, somewhere) Miss Daisy’s MPG computer showed 30 MPG as we pulled into the Doctors office parking lot in Murfreesboro, TN.

This trip, we battled 10-25 MPH quartering head winds the entire way to Murfreesboro, and Miss Daisy was only able to manage 28.6 MPG, on the second leg of the trip (after a brief stop for breakfast).

This morning, after filling up with 93 octane Citgo ~ 8 miles north of Murfreesboro, we headed south on I-24, cruise set at 63mph, speed varying depending on what the semi trucks were doing in front of me. The picture below is before we climbed the mountain at Monteagle, TN.

Yes, I giggled.

The picture below is when we parked at Costco (Fort Oglethorpe location). We never gained back the MPG lost going over the mountain.

Below, is the final showing, at home (after a stop for a peach milkshake in Ooltawah, TN). That last stage of the trip is always a beotch coming back up the mountain along the Ocoee River on highway 64, to get home, with ~10 miles of very hilly windy 30-35 MPH speed limit roads as we near the house.

Very good fuel economy is possible…

A little over 20mph, that is mainly around town. On a highway, if I keep it under 60, the lie'o'meter says around 25mpg. I got just over 26mpg on time, doing around 50 on a highway.

It was never over 18 until 4k miles, got really good around 7k.

My LC is getting more use over my p/u due to fuel prices. International issues and Spring Break are a bad combination.
Great to hear! I'm getting 17.5 mpg at 3200 miles. Most of that driving through California and Arizona national park hills on 34" Nitto Recon Grapplers. I'll never get your mpg, but would love for it to improve after 4-5k miles.

just put 265/70 18's Michelin defenders on it. Came with 245's. set to econ and getting 20mpg in town.
AND using Costco 87 gas.

I want to say mine got better around 4k, then got even better over 8k... Well, more consistent over 8k. I'm coming up on 11k, I have two vehicles, so... I have 275/60-20 and while the TerrainContact AT isn't "aggressive," the compound is softer. I honestly should have gone with the HT's, but it wouldn't have looked as good. I have the same tires on my F150, size and all.

I like it. Thanks for the info. I've got 275/65/20s on stock wheels. I can deal with 17.5 mpg but was hoping for more coming from the '03 V8 4Runner (16.7 mpg).

Are you running SL load? I just did the same size in SL Scorpion XTMs on the wife’s Sequoia. Not even a blip on the mpg radar. Surprised you’re capping so low and curious.

Edit: just noticed you said recon grapplers (my brain read ridge graps the first time). That’s a pretty aggressive tire, and makes more sense maybe? The ridge graps looks more aggressive and I was still topping 20mpg routinely.
