How to get better MPG

If you want the turbo and electric gauges side by side, it wasn’t available in every configuration on my Land Cruiser. But I was able to select it with this configuration (the two gauges are on a different display. I set this one up for temps and pressures):

Where did the photo come from? My system apparently doesn't do this and I just checked for updates- no OTAs out there for my rig. BTW, what's the rest of the display look like?

It comes from the first post of this topic no additional photos.It's obvious that it uses the 2 dials displays.

I thought with all this life time mpg talk there should be a thread on sharing how to get better MPG.

First get a base line, which for everyone will be different. Don’t compare yours to someone else’s because my commute is 2 miles and others might be flat. Big tires, roof rack, etc all change things. As does fuel, btw, straight 91 0% ethanol is worth 3% alone if you are in a state that has it.

Anyway here is what I have found to get me better MPG’s.

1) Coast - Holy hell can this thing coast. I was not used to how early I could lift and maintain a decent speed. If I see a red light I lift and coast. Going down hill, coast. Find the places you can coast.

2) If the engine is off, keep it off. - This was the second most helpful thing to eke out better MPG. If you use the boost gauge and on the electric motor one there are 3 hash marks with the first one roughly 1/3 the way.

I have found if can keep it below that the engine stays off. Think parking lots, slow and go traffic where you have been coasting, hwy transitions, long downhill runs that aren’t too steep. All of this is mostly below 60 mph where I noticed it was possible to keep running on electric. Above that speed the wind resistance is too much.

3) Light foot - much less that the others and in a way less obvious. Staying out off boost and holding part throttle helped too but less so.

Everything else for me wasn’t a noticeable improvement. What’s worked for you?

It was really hard for me to find but I only found it with the speedometer in the middle. I watched your video and you scrolled through on the left. I'm wondering if it would display as an option for you on the right side? Might be an odd quirk.

I'm convinced that it a software version difference.
My options are "Electric boost gauge" and "Turbo gauge"

My final layout will be this unless the dealer as a solution for it. Thanks to those who suggested it.

I have to agree with @h3dave - I can't find it. I can run two widgets, one for each but there isn't a "stacked" booster widget. I'll even try one more time but I'm virtually certain (THAT should make it turn up!) it's not there because I want to use it.

My wife asked me earlier today why I went into the garage and I had to tell her I was trying to help people on the internet figure out their gauge clusters.

I used to work in radio but rarely listen to terrestrial radio these days, so I'm not sure what if any info it displays for AM/FM. I'm 99% sure it shows the artist/song for Spotify. The Juneteenth info came from a video I was watching on PBS via the Google Chrome browser on my phone. If I recall correctly this little audio display happened with me turning on a widget.

Ok, pleading guilty to total thread hijack.

To get better mpg- no rocket surgery required:

1) slower - motorized shoe box aerodynamic rule one: wind resistance increases as a square of the speed. I.e.- a little faster can be a lot harder.
2) steadier - watch out for your adaptive cruise in light traffic, even with acceleration level set to low. Adaptive cruise is just as stupid as the guy in front of you, putting it bluntly. And coast- it's a Land Cruiser super-power
3) Ground effects features that always get taken off 4x4 vehicles that actually go off-road do save gas
4) Premium fuel will cost you more, take you further on a gallon and make mpg look awesome, also will make L/100km look worse than regular typically. Premium fuel from a Top Tier station might make you better looking
5) Oversize, aggressive tread, physically heavy wheels are not your mileage friend
6) Land Cruisers seem to finish figuring out how to run around 5-7k miles... hang in there
8) Roof racks are not your mileage friend either
