IIHS crash safety results for 2025-2026 MY LC250

Just watched this. Great detailed summary about the specifics of the LC performance in the tests. Solid results aside from the one issue for rear passengers in one test. Not that the result is great news, but it is good to see specifically where there might be an issue and feel good about no real issues elsewhere.

Since the issue is with belted, small rear passengers, I presume kids in child seats or boosters would fare better than the results as tested.

Yep! Child seats circumvent the shoulder belt and basically the seating position the rear seats have. Also, the test dummy was limited to the child/small female body and so likely for larger individuals the submarining issue would be moot. I have a young child and so wanted to use the center seating position in the rear row as it is technically the safest but you’re not supposed to share latch points from the outboard positions and the shoulder belt doesn’t lock enough to keep the child seat from pivoting at the front. Oh well… at least the outboard positions have been shown to be safe from the side impact test.

The other thing to note is that IIHS doesn’t really take into account other factors in their crash tests. The fact that our vehicles have a good amount of weight over a standard midsized vehicle actually helps in the event of a collision. All in all, the lc250 is a very safe place to be if you ever get into a car crash. Good crash avoidance tech, excellent crash energy management, more mass, and engineering that older vehicles just do not have and can never have.
