i've been entertaining the idea of the Trailhunter suspension and glad to see it all bolts in. makes sense it should! the TH UCAs will look so good on my Meteor Shower LC :love:
Since the TrailHunter shocks don't have an adjusting knob on them, they should bolt right in without removing the bump stop components.

I have the the ARB MT64 shocks on my GX550 OT, waiting on the TrailHunter upper arms. I assume the MT64 shocks work about the same as the Trailhunter ones.
 
How is the ride quality after all these mods?
Once the E load KO3s were put on, the ride went to crap with the OEM shocks. Putting the TRD shocks on has already had a noticeable improvement, but I still need to do some more driving to get a better opinion on them.
 
What price range are those shocks and springs I'm seeing them for $1,200 per corner?

How much extra lift over stock is the TRD Pro setup? I have ARB OME MT-64 plus their UCC ready to go in the garage but I sure love a good OEM + setup. I'm intrigued.

I'll have to get some hub to fender measurements. I know there is 10.5" of clearance under my front skid but that doesn't mean much since my skid is custom and I have bigger tires on, 275-70r18.

I would be carful with with the MT64 front shocks on your LC. They provided an additional 2" of droop travel on my GX550 OT, so a diff drop will be required for your LC. I wonder if the GX550 axles will fit the LC...

I reached out to Yotomafia shop who installs a lot of these OME BP-51 and MT-64 and was told they do not recommend any diff drops on any lift under 3", regardless of brand of lift.

Just make sure your cvs aren't binding under full droop with full range of steering.

This is why some people are upset because the 250 didn't come with the higher angle cv joints.

I wonder why? I was doing about a 2" lift and advised to get the diff drop kit. So this shop is saying the CV joints on the LC250 are able to handle larger lifts than most trucks? First I have heard this mentioned on here. Maybe someone else will add their experience as well.
 
@turbo8 I believe you have a gx OT as well and have significant seat time in both on and offroad. Iโ€™d appreciate it if you can create a thread and chime in on your experience in both

I like both, but if I had to choose one, it would be the GX.

GX Pros over the LC:
More power
Stronger drivetrain components
Bigger brakes
EKDDS
More transmission gears
Driving range
Easier to disable the nannies
More cargo room
Acoustic glass
massaging seats

GX Cons vs the LC:
Approach and departure angles


I really wish the LC250 would get the MPG Toyota claimed, but it gets worse MPG than the GX. I will be ditching the KO3 tires when I put the TRD wheels on the LC250 and go with lighter weight Toyo AT3s, that should help some.
 
thanks i have both as well and I'm in agreement with your assessment. however i didnt know GX has bigger brakes. im not sure how you can fit 17s on GX given that they are already tight on the LC.
on the mpg point i dont recall seeing more than 240 range at full tank of gas on the LC ( light 35 setup). on the gx i get 290 with stock toyos
GX has 13.9" front rotors vs 13.1 of the LC. Toyota claims the LC has bigger rear brakes 13.1 vs 12.6. I think I need to go measure them.

Also I like the the fuel door release and odometer reset button on the GX.

I like the LC has more physical buttons near the infotainment screen

Are you looking at the TRD 18" BBS Forged wheels? And which size Toyo AT III? I am looking at same setup and going back on forth on tire size trying to bring weight closer to OEM of 44lbs on my Nittos.

As for the tires, Toyo AT3 275-70r18 (33.2") They are E-load but only 50lbs. There is another version of the same tire with white lettering that measures out to 33.4" tall and a couple more pounds per tire.

The KO3s 275-70r18 are 60lbs and required 3 trips back to the tire shop to balance correctly, which required a lot of weights to make that happen. Toyos took 1 trip and not much weight to balance.

Directly from ARB OME USA regarding diff drop on the MT64:

Hello, no diff drop necessary on this vehicle. You do need to use the brake line spacer kit and sway bar bracket with this install. If you purchased it as a full kit, those items should be included in the kit, but if you just purchased the struts/springs, you may need to order these additional parts as well

FK134 - brake line spacer
FK137 - sway bar bracket

That is correct. We have not ran into any issues with the 3" lift on this vehicle. We have a company LC250 here with the kit on it and its just fine, no issues with the CVs. If you were going any taller with it, I could see that causing problems, but as long as you are within the 3" range our kit would provide (3" front, 2" rear), you shouldnt run into any issues

Good to know. This thread from tacoma world scared me. After going back and reading it, it looks like the installer messed up and installed the diff drop wrong.

I would still verify there is no cv binding at full droop, lock to lock.
