🛠️ What Have You Done To Your LC250 Today?

Purchased 4 cross bars from Victory 4x4, got a deal on 2 Apache Long cases from Harbor Frieght, they were on sale 40% off! Needed the storage and don't need a full rack. Now have the extra storage, can now mount yak and fishing gear up top. All in under $800. Happy with it and fits my needs!

Looks good! On a side note you, will improve your MPG by 5-10 if you put a "Toyota" sticker on it........ LOL

Installed the front A-Arm Skid plates sheilding those rig control arms are a neccessity I believe. Easy fix 30 mts self installation. Thanks to DV8 High Quality industrial grade alumunium.

For fear of stones hurtling down the highway towards our unprotected radiators, I've installed these guards from Big A "LC250 Grille Guards"

Ice learned the upper guard isn't necessary cuz we have Active Grille Shutters but these guards are completely breathable so, why not.
I'm not very familiar with the "active grille shutters" but I would assume that they would be more likely to be open while driving on the highway and pushing the engine at a higher RPM (more heat) to provide air flow across the radiator . Am I missing something?

Was told shutters close at highway speeds. I did post about my grille concerns here and that's when I learned of this.

Just need to have my son hold on to the hood and look over the front while I drive down the interstate to confirm!

from random first website I searched:

Why carmakers use an active grille shutter?

The active grille shutter assembly accomplishes three things:

1) Aerodynamic efficiency— An active grille shutter improves aerodynamic efficiency at higher speeds. When it closes, it blocks airflow through the grille and radiator and forces the air to flow up and across the hood. Without the shutter, air would normally ram into the engine compartment. Since air can’t easily escape due to the engine bottom covers and the firewall, it instead forms a field of air in front of the vehicle that disturbs aerodynamic airflow.

• Closing the shutters at stable speeds reduces the drag coefficient, enhancing aerodynamic performance. This leads to optimized fuel consumption and reduced CO₂ emissions, potentially lowering them by up to 2g per kilometer.

2) Thermal Management— The shutter is closed on cold startup to prevent cold air from reducing the temperature of the coolant in the radiator and by stopping the flow of cold air around the engine, so it warms up faster. When the air conditioning is at its highest setting, the shutters open to allow maximum airflow to the radiator. This helps improve the aerodynamic drag coefficient by an average of 9%.

3) Improves cabin heating— Stopping the flow of cold air across the radiator keeps the coolant at a higher temperature so it can heat the cabin more efficiently. Why is this needed now? Because late model engines are much smaller and hold less coolant. Cold airflow across the radiator could chill the coolant to the point where cabin heat would be lukewarm.

I'm going for the same setup but only have 2 of the cross bars. Do you think the additional 2 are a must have? Not putting anything up there other than a flat case like yours.

If you're not paying for an oil change (not included at the 5K service)......... not really anything to check as all they are doing is rotating tires, checking certain bolt's tightness and topping off fluids etc..........

Installed Bison Gear’s complete cargo area offerings. Still some tweaking to do to appease my OCD, symmetry needing brain, but overall very impressed. It was Bucky the Maligator approved too.

Aside: Bison Gear answered my questions, processed my order and shipped it from Poland to my door in 13 days. That’s one day longer than it took Victory to respond to an email IRT their equitable product. Significantly cheaper too.

Negative, two will suffice. I put metal brackets in it to secure and rubber washers to keep water out. Here is how got them to mount and probably overkill, but wanted to ensure they stayed put. I chose 4 for the yak and other goodies to put up there.

If you're worried about support, a cheap alternative crossbar............ 1x2" extruded aluminum. Use a 1/4 tap and tap threads into the existing holes in the extrusions.

This is 1" extrusion, I used in my WeBoost antenna mount.
