The Skid Plate List

This is all you need if you go OEM. Has it all. I am a BIG OEM guy. that's just me...
I am dong an OEM / TRD theme proejct on mine.
I like the TRD accessories' and OEM is always the way to go, especially the better pricing through the online pick up at dealer dealio, no shipping.
What are we going to do for the tank skid plate?

Trust me, the support is so flimsy that adding the upgraded skid plate only increases the chances you'll bend it. The metal that's welded to the frame looks 1/16" thick at most -- I'll measure it next time I'm under there.
I installed the Slee cross member protector today. The crossmember metal measured just over 2mm thick, so my guess was pretty close. (The Slee part was about five and a half mm.) I’ll take pics and post it on my build once I’ve got the Toyota skid plate back on. Bonus for me, putting in all six bolts through the slots in the Slee part and tightening them down with a small socket wrench easily pulled my bent crossmember down flat again.

If anyone is using the greenlane skid plates and they get strange metallic scraping/popping noises, its probably rocks getting in-between your skid plates and what i assume is the sway bar disconnect

and no - the dealership will not take rocks off your skid plates during an oil change even though it'd take 20 seconds

Has anyone found a transfer case skid that works with oem skid plates?

RCI, refer to @t3lcfe post where he gives detailed instructions.
I installed one on my FE with OEM skids. Pretty happy with it.
For the spacer you will need if you go this route I used this Aluminum Spacer

How many of the spacers did you need?
Just a single spacer.
Happy to give the rest of them away but I'm sure shipping would be more than getting the full set from Amazon

I put on the upgraded Toyota engine skid plate with the Slee crossmember protector today. No modifications needed. Details here.

Does a TRD front skid plate from a 4Runner or Tacoma fit? I'd love to have the look of the TRD badge on my skid plate.

to my knowledge the Hybrid models fit the NA LC250 including the Trail Hunter versions

ARB has a Skid Plate for the LC250, unfortunately the NA customer service is too arrogant and uniformed to give correct responses regarding this product. I’ve reached out to ARB over 4 times and failed to get a proper response. I asked when the rear skid plate will be available for the T-Case and transmission section (after having to re-word and dumb down my previous attempt), Nick V response was “ These do extend to the rear transferase”
Yea no shite sherlock when will the Rear/T-Case Skid be available????

Clearly in the picture there are two separate skid plates, in the description it says “Front skid plates only, suitable with or without rear ARB under vehicle protection plates“

I've had several issues with ARB "product support" with simple questions about BP51 and skid plates

The factory plate set of three went on flawlessly, look good, no red cutsey TRD printing.
Price via Toyota part son line was excellent, the dealer installed them for a smokin hot dealio.
This over sizing and over designing of skid plates is idiotic at best. If they or any one of them works well at any time they earned their keep, replace and move on. Lets get serious dweebs, these vehicles arnt for smashin and bashin. If thats the intention there are much better choices out there.
I am finding the OEM stuffus is a bargain , well designed and well supported.

Somewhat agree...
I'll probably go with the toyota skid plates simply because they aren't overkill and best aethstetic. However for the DIY oil change guys, the toyota skid is a slight PIA but manageable.

Just wanted to add that Tacoma/4Runner TRD aluminum skid plate p/n: PTR60-35240 will fit LC250 no problem. No interference issue when fitted with transmission skid plate p/n: PT228-35247 as well!

Lets get serious dweebs
As a mid-40’s dad of single-digit aged girls, who has his lil ladies saying “rad”, “duh” and “gnarly,” and also has them doing good old fashioned “Schwing!” every time we say hi or bye… This made me spit my morning coffee. Perfection my dude.

$432 vs $339.
Does the red letter version do anything better or different than the more subtle and subdues non shouting version all plan mertal look.? Anything?

This is the only difference i could find.
NOT AVAILABLE
This product is currently not available for purchase at this dealer.

1) 3/32 steel on the FE plates vs 1/4 Aluminum on the TRD
2) (IMO) better protection for the front suspension cam bolt because of its square front section design vs. the trapezoid design on the FE
3) The logo is not that visible unlike the previous gen 4R and Taco TRD plates. You have to get real low to find it. It also can be popped out leaving it just the imprints like the FE

Yes I'm not rock crawling either, and if I was I wouldn't be buying these as well. Price difference was $40 last month with deals, and since I'm already save 50% vs buying through Canadian dealers the tiny price difference for what I think is a better product is worth it.

k mango, yes.
oh oh, i blew this one.
The TRD version is the aluminum one, i missed that completely.
Aluminum is better for corrosion resistance especially when it will see salt and mud, the lake bed mud, dust etc is caustic.
Easily fixed ill order the TRD version now and have it in stock. It also fits the OEM/ TRD build theme for the vehicle.
Thx.

Second thoughts, gonna to leave it alone for now, i like the screw placement on the front better.
