Haha, exactly! That line had me picturing them sitting around comparing toaster reviews and debating the merits of dishwasher cycles like it’s a secret club. Best friends and undercover product testers—it all checks out!

I wish this vehicle was more quirky..... weed out the people that are getting it because of image and/or its considered a luxury ride. Make it more catered to just off roading...... get rid of the luxury SUV types trying to compare it to a mercedes or audi or whatever their last ride a year ago was.

Curious, why? Does it affect your use of the vehicle in any way for others to use theirs differently?

My take is that no vehicle is going to be perfectly perfect for everyone. If the LC is not for you that's no crime and if a critical but thoughtful write up helps someone else make their right choice then great. If you don't like it don't buy it, if you got rid of one or are planning to then go for it, be a grown up, do so and move on with your life. If all you have in you is to gripe about it endlessly for attention and prove you're in with the cool kids like a middle schooler on Snap or TikTok then go do that 6/7 shit with them. Helpful advice about overcoming problems is always welcome of course and constructive criticism directed to the manufacturer is understandable even if it falls on deaf ears, but pointless whining about the same things, about how it's not this it's that when you should have known what your were buying in the first place, it's getting old and tired...

Toyota advertised the Land Cruiser 250 series as a rugged, heritage focused offroader by highlighting its body-on-frame build, advanced 4WD systems (like locking diffs, KDSS/SDM), short overhangs for approach angles, and tech like Crawl Control, contrasting it with luxury SUVs and tying into its legendary, tough past (FJ40 era), using imagery of conquering nature. Then we get people like the OP saying it not what he expected listing luxury SUV complaints.... hmmm?

They manufacture hundreds of car/SUV/Truck styles with varying levels of luxury so we have choices.. just because the LC doesn’t fit your personal style doesn’t mean it’s not a well made SUV.. I read the manual because I care about knowing how to use my LC and have not experienced any problems you identified sooo..

The OP has a few valid points and while I’m keeping my 250 I can see why some people wouldn’t. If modern Toyotas were as reliable as the old that’d help, but to cost what these do and miss the mark of dependability for something intended to get you to remote places and back lacking dependability is a huge miss. There’s more talk of transmission failures and other issues on this forum than any I’d seen in the older LC groups.

The other point is the ridiculously long owners manual. That in and of itself isn’t the problem, it’s that it’s so poorly written that it’s not just too long, it’s awful to read. Like asking a teacher for help but it’s such a bad teacher you can’t pay attention to their attempt at help. Not expecting it to be a page turning best seller but they should’ve done better.

Last is while there’s some nanny tech that we can turn off, there’s still too much that annoys. Sure we can turn off the auto braking but you have to acknowledge that it’s off at every start up, for one example. Odd this is an 8 page rant calling one seller a dumbass because he didn’t love a purchase that most of the rest of us do. Is this a great truck? Maybe. Time will tell but I think for me I’ll need more than 10 or 20k miles to find out. Could Toyota have done better? ABSOLUTELY. Talking trash about the OP for his decision and saying it’s dumb because you drove much, much worse rigs is strange. Someone can’t have a high bar for a $70k purchase because you drove something else that leaked rivers through the windshield or dumped gas into the oil?
