Alright. Did a cursory search and don’t see that this has been discussed.
I’m getting my ‘25 in for its last ToyotaCare warranty service (25,000 miles) on Friday and wonder if I should look into something that I’ve noticed:
It seems that my RPMs will climb when I’m coasting in certain situations. Always driving in 4High. On a mountain road, coasting down a hill was one glaring situation. Maybe going 45 mph and coasting down a hill the RPMs climbed up around 4-5,000. This occurred on multiple hills during that drive and braking only made them rise more if I remember correctly. I don’t think I would have had cruise control on, but it’s possible I did. Seems like the car didn’t downshift automatically or like it should.
I unfortunately haven’t noticed a strong theme or taken good notes on this, but wonder if others have noticed the same with theirs and if you see it as an issue/malfunction worth checking.
I doubt I’ll be able to recreate the issue for the mechanic, so also wondering if there would be anything visible with the transmission or in that area that they could assess if the issue couldn’t be recreated on the road for observation.
It’s also pretty jumpy when downshifting into a coast on flat roads and can stall a bit coming out of hybrid to engine driving. This seems more normal/acceptable and just the nature of the iForceMax, but worth mentioning here as well.
Appreciate any insight.
