LC250 CV joints - Should I consider upgrading

Certainly looks like it, the brown looks like heat has been induced into the metal from use.

If you ordered those from a dealer, I'd send the photos ask for the boot kits, seals and dust caps and rebuild them if you're up for that, completely free of charge of course. Along with 50% off the original price.

I went the Lexus route, but it's maybe an illusion, I have the impression that the shaft between joints is largeur, I measured 1,25 inch at the smallest section or 31,6mm. I also don't understand why there is portion with a largeur diameter on that shaft?

Did you ever get these installed? Any guesses as to what makes it different to the Taco or OE shafts?

Not yet, but it' doesn't look good.

I'm still deep in the process of cross-referencing part numbers for the CV section. I don't think the Lexus CVs are directly interchangeable, and keep in mind I have the diesel version, so I work with diesel's VIN from Europe and Gulf market.

For example on the outboard side, the hubs have different part numbers, as do the hub seals, and I don't yet know what the actual difference is, so I've ordered the parts to find out. :)

On the inboard side, the differentials are completely different. The only possibility I see is that the Lexus spline axle looks larger, 35 splines on roughly a 36mm diameter, and it might be machinable and hardenable to fit. But again, I ordered an inboard tripod joints so with the parts in hands I will measure the actual differences. Don't worry I will keep all parts as spares.

I do not have USA Tacoma VIN, I already looks for parts but I never find a platform code who use DOJ, this is something made by Toyota USA, so I ignore if the Lexus DOJ CV's may fit an US LC250

I'm amaze by the minute differences in parts between platforms for same vehicle sold in various markets. For example front brakes why a less powered car has bigger (3mm in diameter) rotors as an US market? this implies to change the calipers, rotors and disc heat/dust shield. But guess what, the brakes pads are identical. This is crazy.

That's usually how poor packaged cvs arrive. Where did you get yours from, I just got some that came in the same shape.

Mine looked similar, i spent some time straigthening up the bent sheilds before install. I chalked up the discoloration to the manufacturing process? Just make sure your boots don't have any cuts!
