The motor in the trucks is beefed up to handle the heavy duty cycle of trucks and cannot be compared directly to the car platform engines. Apparently about 50% of the parts are different.

The changes can absolutely make a difference in sound profile. The truck engine is using 50% new parts, is in a different orientation, and is built to a much higher load standard. The problem is a T24A- FTS should be the same internally whether it’s in a car or a truck. The externals can be different. If the internals change between car and truck then the FTS should change also.
More information has come out reported directly from Toyota. The V35A-FTS had the main bearing redesigned. We were told engine debris.. IMO it was both a design and manufacturing problem combined.I think this is best explanation until more information comes out.
May (or may not be) caused by an issue with something in the crank/oiling passage/main bearings.
(I was told main bearing redesign)

The T24A-FTS will also see a redesign.

Thanks for posting an update. There are few of us actually posting meaningful information on this thread.Has anyone else undergone this or another fix for this issue? I know there were many mentions / videos of this particular noise on this thread and several others on this forum. Would be curious to hear about your experience(s) if so.
I asked the head tech same question when picking up the car from the service dept. He cited metal expansion as the engine warms up as the reason the noise would go away. I'm no mechanic, just sharing what they said...That’s not going to be good if all the vehicles with the noise are in need of an engine replacement. I know some have had an engine replacement from a specific problem. To have loose con rods and no noise all the time is odd IMO.
Yea that don’t make any sense to me. A loose rod won’t hold together. The noise on mine sounds nothing like loose rods. The noise isn’t there or can barely be heard when the vehicle is first started. When the vehicle warms up just a bit it’s easily noticeable.I asked the head tech same question when picking up the car from the service dept.
