Great job Toyota . The new Kia telluride comes with higher ground clearance and better offroad tires, and the rear seats fold completely flat

We tried to buy one in Brown Sugar Metallic (Meteor Shower) but there were zero examples incoming. We tried to buy an unallocated Wind Chill Pearl, but found out it had sold at end of business day the morning we showed up at opening. We tried to buy an un-spoken for model in black that had been a dealership demo for six months, but there were about $7K worth of add-ons and some lot damage the selling dealer didn't want to get into.

There were multiple Traildust and Heritage Blue two tones incoming, but my wife nixed those choices- we were looking at multiple months to wait. Once she saw the Traildust on a sold example, she decided she didn't dislike it as she initially thought. After seeing Heritage Blue on the road, she decided she liked that colour also. In my opinion, you can't go too far wrong with any of Toyota's available colours. I thank my lucky stars she didn't set her heart on a Telluride :p

With our Land Cruiser, I was able to swap what I wanted to swap (saving the 20" wheels for summer) and end up at less than the extra $7K we would have dealt with had we bought the black one. As much as I like the looks of the FE roof rack, I was hoping to avoid the extra height and didn't plan to use the rack.

While I won't crap all over the Telluride, I suspect it won't be as capable as a Land Cruiser, 4Runner or Tacoma. The LC250 is a relatively young platform, but I feel more comfortable with Toyota's reputation.

I've owned a number of "wagons" that happened to have 4wd. I could even say that I loved them. I happen to have one of those now :)

Without having put a Telluride through its paces, I'll refrain from further comment but it doesn't call to me- especially when in today's market there are a number that do.

As long as you accept the Telluride as a 2025 station wagon, you will be fine. Nothing wrong with that.

I feel you, especially in the used market for $60K you can do a lot better....E63 Wagon, S6 Avant even CSV-T.

Define station wagon.

The 200 is an incredible platform. Too bad the US version was the neutered one. Everywhere else got the real hardware. Diesel V8 that could tow a house. Factory rear locker. Heavy-duty cooling. Real recovery points. Steel-bumper-friendly front end. Stuff built for hard miles, not Starbucks parking lots. We got the softest spec made so nobody spilled their latte. At least Toyota finally fixed some of that it with the 250 and gave the US the real global truck instead of the β€˜please don’t intimidate the suburban buyers’ edition.

My friend, what are your thoughts on the 2025 Tacoma having more towing capacity than your Land Cruiser 250 Prado?

What is the "heavy duty cooling" you're speaking of specifically? Can you send me a link? Also, I wasn't aware that the front ends are different on the 200 series from market to market. Can you share your research?

Also, what are the "global features" that the 250 has that other US Land Cruisers don't have?

Probably same as Tundra having more towing capacity than LC200.

Curb weight of the 2025 Tacoma is lower than the 2025 Land Cruiser, which may factor into the equation.

The Tacoma and the Land Cruiser share the same turbo 2.4, with the main difference being country it is assembled in. The North American spec Land Cruiser is Hybrid by default, whereas the Tacoma may only get that in certain option packages.

I didn't realize that. Wow. Looking like the 250 also shares an engine with the 4Runner as well.

Icon's Tacoma upper control arms show that they also fit the 250! I guess that makes sense.

Don't you have a cam tower leak to fix or a starter to replace? Maybe figure out who broke your HVAC recirc door?

Not trying to snap back or anything, but I could ask you...Don't you have a transmission to replace on your brand new Land Cruiser 250?

This guys said when he he took his into the dealer for a transmission replacement there was another 250 also waiting for a transmission replacement-
Super loud horn-like noise when fully stopped and when starting up. 2024 LC250

Over $30,000 cost for transmission/torque converter replacement-

Just 2600 miles in and needs a new transmission, torque converter and hybrid power unit-
Most Disappointing Vehicle Ive Owned

Another-
Failed transmission with only 25k miles on 2024 First Edition.

And another-
Shudder at low RPM

Or...don't you have a whole ass engine to replace on your new 250?

Cylinder Wall Scoring and misfires

The hybrid that can't...
