Brakes Squeal

my 2024 LC/LC has had the squealy breaks since day one (only in reverse). Local toyota service told me "all breaks squeek"....
I just got off the phone with Toyota engagement and was told their is a technical service bulletin #TSB0103-20 for the breaks but the part needed is not available yet with no ETA- the lady said she could not give me the part number or tell me what the part was that my dealer would be able to get the part when available and fix the issue.

I think they just wanted to get you off the phone as the "-20" indicates it deals with 2020 and earlier.

For us it’s been weird. I think I first heard it back in January and then didn’t hear it for weeks. I’ve heard it a few times since. Hasn’t been on first drive of the day either. Sometimes the second or third. Dry conditions. Then days go by and nothing… Our vehicle is parked outside.

I dunno
Funny, because this has been the exact same experience for me, when I took it in for the 10K service I mentioned it to the advisor and he just shrugged. Of they looked at it, however and of course "they could not replicate it", as well as the metallic tapping I hear in the "B" pillar.

MIne has done it repeatedly - morning, mid day and night, but ONLY when I am backing to the left and braking! I had my husband back it forward and back last night while I stood outside trying to identify if it was coming from front or rear but of course it wouldn't do it then! Where I work we have pea gravel on the lot and the first few times I thought some had gotten in the brake - but it has continued .......

Thanks for the idea, I will try strapping that down and see if it resolves this.
For me, it’s usually caused when the unused latch plate has somewhat wedged in an upright position against the side of the seat. I just reach over and “free” it so that it hangs loosely. Problem cured

Sorry, I didn't mean to highjack this post, I know there is one already for the B pillar rattle, I was just mentioning the dealerships don't seem to be enthused about looking at/fixing what should be warranty work.
I will look at this suggestion, however I should mention it's on the drivers side, however I know these sounds do travel.

Bought my 25' LC Premium two weeks ago, and have already been hearing the brakes in reverse, in all different types of scenarios. Called Toyota at the number earlier in this thread (1-800-331-4331) and they are very much aware of the issue with a TSB is in-work apparently.

I've got a Case Number, and will continue to monitor.........

Mine shrugged it off at 5K because they couldn’t hear it - mine is extremely rare so if I can stop & video it next time Im going to.

I’m at 4200 miles and my brakes have been squealing in reverse since I purchased the truck. I’ve mentioned it to the Toyota service Dept and they said they are aware and waiting for a fix. How do we get in touch with Brand Engagement? I’d like to send them a video of my super quiet cul-de-sac …that is until I back out of my garage.

My 2025 Land Cruiser squealing when backing up. It is embarrassing and annoying. I saw the number for Toyota on this thread somewhere and called them today at 1-800-331-4331 and told them the situation. They need to be called by everyone on this thread that is having issues. She said until they have enough complaints a recall wont happen.
Welcome to the asylum Emscruiser.

Sending an email to tetsuo.ogawa@toyota.com (some executive) surprisingly got a quick response, from the executive assistant. I was promised a update today and got one. I was told that there are some parts that are on back order. Not sure if that means the existing brake pads / rotors or if there are new ones coming to resolve the issue that havent gotten here.

The thing that I worry about is if the new ‘non squeal’ brake pads, etc, will stop Miss Daisy equally as well as the squealing OEM pads… 🤔

I'm thinking there is a slight misalignment in the caliper mounting surfaces and the piston face, which would cant the pad ever so slightly (slightly larger space at the front edge of the pads vs the rear edge of the pads) which is why going forward no squeal and reverse crazy squeal. As you apply the brakes, over a period of time, the rear of the pad makes contact first and that would increase the space etc...... and when you reverse that sharp edge of the rear of the pads scrapes the rotor etc...... New pads, if properly bedded, erases that gap for a period of time.

Might be why Toyota is slow on a TSB as it would require machining of the calipers or mounting surfaces. Just my opinion tho'
