Brakes Squeal

Did your dealership did the repair willingly or was directed by the Toyota HQ?
I don't know. I brought the vehicle to a different dealer and told them I had an open ticket with Toyota on the issue. They let it sit out in the rain for a few hours, tested it, and then said they would order new front pads and rotors. It took a week to get the parts, so I wonder if they also installed the shim kit that has been reported as part of the fix for this issue.

To clarify, my squeal was in reverse only, and did not resolve completely even after the first drive of the day. I never had a squeal driving forward.

New Land Cruiser here. Brakes squeal every morning while backing up. Less than 500 miles.

Called the dealer today since it wasn't resolving. Called around 4:00. The service advisor I spoke to said he had 3 other calls just today about this issue. He asked that I bring it in for them to take some measurements and log the complaint. He said they were hopeful if there were enough complaints that Toyota would develop a fix.

Welcome to the Jungle!

Brand rep said he expects a TSB to be released in a few weeks. Hoping that is in fact the case but I guess we will see!

I wonder how some of us got repairs. Why does Toyota approve some and not others? I'm also surprised that some LCs built this year have the problem.

I have had a case/complaint open since last year, so that may be one factor in Toyota approving the new brakes. Obviously the dealers will replace anything Toyota will pay for.

My 2025 Land Cruiser squealing when backing up. It is embarrassing and annoying. I saw the number for Toyota on this thread somewhere and called them today at 1-800-331-4331 and told them the situation. They need to be called by everyone on this thread that is having issues. She said until they have enough complaints a recall wont happen.

Had my rotors and pads replaced with around 9,500 miles on the vehicle. 1,000 miles later and the squeal while in reverse is back…

I.....I don't feel that I can handle the return of the squeal. I've had a week of blissful quiet while leaving the property. I'm going to be banned from the summer block party.

Update: Dealer assigned it to a technical assistance status. Apparently documents the squeal and that there isn't a fix yet. I showed him the Lexus GX TSB but he clearly stated that "if I apply a fix and it continues, the cost comes out of my pocket". Right.

Also, sent in a concern to the Toyota Care Team. They responded in a day and will be discussing with the regional technical advisor.

Sent an email to Toyota USA CEO and one of his assistants called and also mentioned they would connect with a technical advisor.

Not really expecting anything here, but they all made it very clear that the only way they'll develop a fix is if they can detect a pattern or this is occurring commonly.

Hard to believe a brake squeal can't be fixed.

Called the number too. Talked to someone that seemed new to talking about car issues. He said there is nothing they can do. Didn’t expect much and got what I expected. I do believe that everyone should call the number and take it to a dealer and have it documented.

Wow! I am glad I didn’t dive into the purchase just yet. I wanted to come on here and read all the different experiences most are having good and bad. I know most come on here to complain but it seems that this new LC has a lot of bugs to work out before it comes back to legendary status again. In the mean time, I wait. But, it seems to be an electric parking brake issue. This is if most of you are activating it while parked and then backing out. I had a similar issue on a Honda. It fixed itself.

I want to pretend I didn’t see this… poop!

Assuming the new rotors & pads are the same as that replaced, I’m not surprised that the squeal returned.

Is there anyone besides me that hasnt had this problem? I back out of my garage and steep driveway every morning and have never had the squeel. I have 8k miles on 2025 LC LC with nitto option. Ive always used anti squeel paste on all my other vehicles when replacing brakes which definitely helps. Not sure if toyota recommends this or not.

In 17k miles, I’ve heard it once - shortly after an afternoon storm. It was also a few days after my 15k service, FWIW

For us it’s been weird. I think I first heard it back in January and then didn’t hear it for weeks. I’ve heard it a few times since. Hasn’t been on first drive of the day either. Sometimes the second or third. Dry conditions. Then days go by and nothing… Our vehicle is parked outside.

I dunno
