Brakes Squeal

I think this is great information for anyone willing to try up to 10 different brake pads for a fix. What we really need is for Toyota to step up and fix the problem like they are for the Tundras and Sequoias.

Based on those other brake TSB vehicles, Toyota is probably in the process of issuing a TSB later this year or next year, and then it may be at least few more months after that for Toyota dealers to get all of the parts stocked. It took over 2 years of customer complaints on the Tundras and Sequoia for Toyota to issue the brake TSB. Toyota did take care of Lexus LX and GX customers’ squealing brakes a little quicker though .

Yup, that’s mine as well. Only the first time out of driveway but it’s every day.

I have a 2024 1958 trim, and just had a 10,000-mile service yesterday. I told them about this issue, and they told me that the new model sometimes has these hiccups. They just wrote down this issue on my service record.

It goes away after slow consistent easy break in pretty much like everything else.
Takes about 5k miles.
I am sure it depends on the drivers level of understanding and sophistication as so many of the other hi tech issues that are considered big problems, NOT.

Nope. I just crossed 5K miles with my 2024 LC FE and it still happens all the time. The squeal happens every morning when I reverse out of my garage.

Agreed. Mine was horrible this morning and also over 5k miles.

Good news to all Land Cruiser owners! After having a lengthy conversation with my dealer's service manager he was able to research the squealing brake problem and discovered that Lexus has the very same problem. It supposedly does not effect all units. Lexus has already issued a service bulletin to correct the issue and has parts available under warranty. Toyota has not issued a service bulletin as of yet but does have part numbers (which do not match Lexus numbers). Currently, part availability is unknown. With 5k on the clock, I am having the front rotors cut to remove any glazing and new pads installed to restart at 0 miles until the permanent fix parts are available.

FYI - Some of us from the early part of this thread have had out brakes repaired. Mine were fixed a month ago, but others were earlier. One report of the squeal returning after 1000 miles.

I had pads and rotors replaced on the front.

Mine did the same thing but only. When I was in reverse. Thing is, I just replaced my rims with Method 701’s and no squeal at all.

The customer service person for the executive office got back with me. She stated they have no knowledge of brake squeals and no intention of a TSB. Stated they don't care or review anything on forums like this. I asked about the Lexus fix and she stated that Toyota doesn't cross-reference with Lexus. Stated very clearly that if the dealer can't fix it then there is nothing they can or will do.

Very possible I just got an incredibly incompetent customer service person. However, when I asked to speak to someone else, a supervisor or someone that has dealt with issues with the Land Cruiser, she stated that she was the senior most customer service rep at Toyota and there was no one else to speak to nor to write to.

It’s been talked about for months and months.. Why Lexus owners get a legitimate TSB, and as of yet we don’t.

If you look around on this forum, you will find a telephone number for Toyota Brand Engagement Center.

Call and complain. It will let them know that their customers are unhappy about it, and sways the scale towards a TSB for all of us.

2025 LC 8700 miles and never had a squeak. No real issues at all actually.

Mine just started today 1300 miles
