Perhaps those of us who specifically wanted the 58 trim had more appropriate expectations regarding the vehicle overall. Some of the complaining in this forum seems to stem from unrealistic expectations which are more likely if you paid +$70k for a light-duty Prado.

I think it’s this, and the fact that there are fewer 58s overall (and therefore less complaints regarding the 58). Many issues that are pointed out here directly relate to the enhanced features of the higher trims themselves. That’s the main reason I bought a 58. I work in tech. I don’t have a lot of faith in newly launched tech features and prefer simplicity in cars specifically. Kudos to Toyota for offering a legitimately capable base model.

I’ve read about rear view camera glitches, instrument cluster glitches, weak wireless charging pad (def not unique to LC), power lift gate problems (although arguably user error), poor HUD visibility, power seat setting glitches, etc. On the other hand, there are a couple of issues that are common to all trims like the brakes and windshield design. I guess my point is that people will always find reasons to complain, especially when expectations don’t match reality. I know this about myself, at least, and prefer to intentionally limit my reasons to complain . My other car is the highest trim of its model though, so I’m not totally opposed. To me, Toyota means reliable utility.

Honestly though, I don’t think one is better than the other. If you’re happy with your ‘58 I am happy for you. I am happy with my premie. I haven’t had any issues with it except for tearing off a mud flap and bending the skip plate, no fault of the trim I chose. How are the power seats working in your ‘58? Or SDM? Or MTS? I could go on. Good day sir.

I talked to a guy, who would know and he said they were......... I just noticed on the Japan Domestic Market site, where they sell a serial number overlay kit, that allows you to make your high number serial numbered LC, look like a lower numbered LC, It's reasonably priced at $300, plus $250 for shipping. I'm kind of hesitant tho' cause it'll lower the MPG and void the Toyota powertrain warranty.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from a guy who knows a kid who's going with the girl who said that it's actually the ones where the last three numbers of the VIN add up to a odd number if made at Hino, and an even number if made at Tahara.

My attempt at humor for those who like to put fake badges on vehicles to make them appear to be something they aren't.

FYI there are certain circumstances where the VIN number can be legally transferred or a "altered" VIN can be installed, all of which have to be approved and inspected by state officials.

I knew you weren't serious - that's why I posted a laughing emoji. It makes sense that there are cases where a VIN can be altered, but I also assumed it would require some governmental permission (as many things do nowadays). I'll try to be more obvious with my attempt at humor when responding to posts that I assume were attempting to be humorous. Or something like that.

In addition, the warranties for vehicles manufactured in the southern hemisphere actually count backwards. So make sure you submit any claims in advance. ha, ha, ha

I don’t get how people can get so invested in talking about watches. They all do nearly the same thing, the conversations about them are just endless nitpicks and pointless debates over an unnecessary luxury item, and the enthusiasts put far to much value on vintage versions versus the modern options being produced.

It's a high quality, durable cloth designed for rugged use. I have seat covers on my the two front seats. I'm not worried about the back seats. It's not a LEXUS.
