Sorry to burst your bubble but, the difference between a Toyota and a Jeep is. When you buy a jeep you have to spend another $10k to $20k to make it off-roadable! Is off-roadable even a word? When you buy a Toyota, it come trail ready…Inside every 1958 owner is a Jeep Liberty just waiting to get out.![]()
It was satire.............. The liberty was the worst Jeep ever dumped on the us market!Sorry to burst your bubble but, the difference between a Toyota and a Jeep is. I bought one of my first 4X4 Tacoma’s around 2001 because of the Ivan “Ironman” Steward commercials. I had it about three weeks before I drove it down the Baja on at that time was about 200 miles of the “Baja 1000”. It was the fastest way to get to my house in San Juanico. On its maiden trip down I bent both rear leaf springs and popped three of the shocks. I brought back to the Toyota dealer for repair and they told me I misused the vehicle. I told them I drove down what looked like the same road they filmed the commercial on. If they didn’t repair the Tacoma they were misrepresenting the Tacoma. I picked up my Tacoma three days later with four new shocks and two new rear leaf springs, with an apology and no charge. It was satire.............. True Offroad guys don’t need all those creature features. Basic is better for offoff-roading.
True off-road guys ride donkeys instead of vehicles. If that is the logic, I guess we should not use air conditioning, FM radios, or power windows?![]()
I was going to say X-Terra, but those actually turned out to be pretty good vehicles. It was satire.............. The liberty was the worst Jeep ever dumped on the us market!
Xterras (first and second gen) are great trucks - highly underrated for off-roading. A Nissan could never be a Toyota, but those are great rigs.I was going to say X-Terra, but those actually turned out to be pretty good vehicles.
@Bajacruzzer, that story is great! I love it. Did their mouths drop when you said that? I would have loved to have been there.![]()
I don't think they're ugly as hell...I think they look pretty good, actually...but I find it odd that Toyota has decided to go with them by default, since it seems most folks do prefer the look of the round ones. This is so good. Apparently the rectangular lights have a lot of self esteem issues for being ugly as hell.
I like both designs, but in the eye of this beholder the rectangulars look better. Setting aside aesthetics, the rectangle lights apparently outperform the round lights.I don't think they're ugly as hell...I think they look pretty good, actually...but I find it odd that Toyota has decided to go with them by default, since it seems most folks do prefer the look of the round ones.
And yeah, while I'd be fine with the rectangular headlights, if given a choice, I'm going for the round headlights every time.
Same. Both look good, rectangle looks better.I like both designs, but in the eye of this beholder the rectangulars look better. Setting aside aesthetics, the rectangle lights apparently outperform the round lights.

Swamp tours! I lived in Florida for a decade and somehow never got around to doing one of these. I kick myself for that. Now here's a true off roader we can all agree on. No creature-feature comforts or tacky badges but with rectangular headlights and 3rd row seats.

No.After a year of ownership (1958 with zero issues) and being a member of this forum, it seems that the 1958 has less issues than the premium models. Could it be that the 1958 is "built better" with less issues than the LC and FE premium packages?
I know I shouldn’t start this but… is that really on moon or somewhere in Nevada or on a sound stage somewhere. I know, I shouldn’t have said anything… But that being said I would love to drive that thing!
