Watch this for final word on which fuel to use (Hint: Premium fuel matters)

I just want to see a Toyota engineer on camera to explain why the LC 250 requires premium but the 4Runner and Tacoma is perfectly fine to run on regular. Same engine, almost same weight (4Runner), same hp, same torque numbers.
Please find me a video where they breakdown the technical aspects to why the LC requires premium.

Also, why is it okay to change engine oil at 10k intervals. Every master mechanic on YouTube says to change the engine oil at 5k or less, but Toyota who cares so much to use premium in our LC wants us to change our engine oil at 10k intervals.

Hybrid engines, like the lc250s are known to have fuel dilution, but they still want us to change the engine oil at 10k intervals.

Use premium fuel, but change engine oil at 10k intervals 🤯

Btw, I’m one of those stupid people who has been using regular since day one on my premium lc250. I’ve got over 20k miles with over 7 oils changes. Also, I regularly get 25-26 mpg on my 20 inch heavy factory wheels.

Agreed. Although we have seen the opposite. High-up Toyota engineers on camera saying regular gas is perfectly fine for the Land Cruiser and will not cause harm.

Great fuel efficiency on regular gas! Like I said earlier, anecdotally, it almost seems like regular gas boosts MPG.

I haven't done the comparison with the LC, but with 93 octane, my 2007 FJ Cruiser yielded 14% higher fuel economy but at 42% higher cost. The benefits didn't scale beneficially enough to justify the price. I only did 93 octane before spending days on the trail so I could stretch the 19 gallon tank as far as possible. I expect a similar difference with the LC.

I did the same thing with my 2016 4R and 2015&18 Tacos. Deep analysis over hundreds of miles and all documented/shared. Results basically mirrored yours. None of those recommended higher octane, but the Tacoworld sleuths were all adamant it was worth it.

No one ever said Premium is less costly due to added mileage. Many of us on MANY vehicles have known performance is optimized with premium and mileage WILL be better, how much depends on vehicle and state of tune. A few examples below.
Go WAAAY back to circa 1990 or so with Cadillac Northstar 4.6 l motors. 270 HP on regular, 300 HP on premium. They did this on several motors and it was being quite open and honest. If I remember correctly, premium mpg improved by +1 on my dad's STS...motor liked the juice no doubt.
On a tuned RRS with the 3.0SC motor it was 340/332 stock. This is the 65% tune I have mentioned elsewhere so motor survives on crap gas. Tuned for 93 octane with pulley it was 456/412!! Tuned for 91 it was ~420. Tuned mileage improved by 1 mpg on highway but damn was it faster. Could easily run with the a 5.0 motor and it weighed 300-400lb less so it handled better. Significantly better. Performance drinks fuel. Can't avoid it.

I bet the LC motor runs fine on regular but only gives ~300HP. Turbos like octane. So if cruising down the highway you will not feel any difference. If using all the available HP towing, driving like Mario, deep torque offroading, you will. If thje ICE isn't giving what is needed, the hybrid gets leaned on more and depletes faster. I like my HP for when needed, say passing a car and another appears........right foot can only depress so far.
The thing everyone says (Oil Guy and others)and can't be underestimated (has been tested ad nauseum) is the increased detergents in Premium ......modern motors esp DI motors ALL have carbon issues........I'd rather run L premo than add junk snake oil treatments to deal with issues down the line. Pay me now or pay me later. If you trade them in every 5yrs, doubt its an issue. If you want to run it 300-500000 miles, I'd put my money on the premium fueld motor not needing to be cracked open to decarbonize. I am not trying to get overly specific, just summarizing everything I have leaned after 63 yrs of existence, at track, etc. So don't underestimate regulars affect on motor longevity on 2025.

These engines are not strictly direct injection. They use both direct and port fuel injection, depending on load and RPM.

The choices are clear ? 😜
Damn CA stupid gas price…However, I am happy to follow “Toyota Premium Fuel Only” sticker to feed my LC with “Premium” 😜
