TLC front seat belt chime annoying on short hop drives... How to squelch?

Living in a HOA community. Drive frequently in a 20 MPH zone to clubhouse and activity. So seatbelt use is not needed for us...
The seat belt chime/alarm is turned down. Still agrivation for waiting for the time out of the chime.

Any methods to turn it off? Read somewhere you can use a seat belt extender. How does that work. Not interested in paying Clarissa a monthly fee to disable.
And no turning the volume up is not a option. Tell us your secrets to stop the noise !
while being a firm believer in seatbelts, I want the freedom from the uber-annoying chime.
I bought and inserted seatbelt extenders on driver's and passenger's seats about 4 months ago and they work beautifully!
simple and inexpensive solution.

Agree, just orderd a set from Amazon. They kill the alarm, yet you can still clip over them when needed for safe travel.

Hello, would you happen to have the Amazon link for these? This is a good idea.

It should be observed that "Carista changes" DO NOT disable the driver's or passenger seatbelt alarms. The recurring chime is turned off after a set period; the instrument red-light seatbelt indicator remains lit. I find this very acceptable- 3 seconds of chime should get a driver's attention. And it is the driver's responsibility to see to about others in the car one way or another.

This is not a good idea. Defeat the noise with carista as Mopper states and write your congressperson. You still have the visual reminder on the dash this way, as does anyone who hops into your car.

Edit: to clarify, those extenders were not crash tested in your car. They could fail or cause internal injury in a violent impact.

This was not my experience with Carista. I have no climes at all. I still get the lights on the dash, but my car makes absolutely no seatbelt warning noises after turning off all of the "Seatbelt Warning" settings through the app.

For me, same as above. Carista has removed all chimes and alarms relating to the seat belt. 2024 LC.

I don't have the other passengers disabled although none were present. Also, no third row

Just get yourself one of these. I had a similar one for my F150. Easy and does the trick

FYI you never needed those for your F150, the manual tells you how to turn it off easily with few steps in the car, no programs needed.

I had my dealer turn off the seatbelt chimes and enable the windows and sunroof to open with the key fob during my first service visit.

In hindsight I wish I'd not enabled the sunroof, just the windows.

You mention - The seat belt chime/alarm is turned down. I think youre talking about the volume. How does one do that?

Been a while since adjusted. There are several levels, all to loud. If you scroll thru your options using the enter toggle on your steering wheel. its there. Look in your owners manual for specifics if you cant find it...

Same- I get no audible warning chime while repositioning my vehicle no matter how much time elapses, just a light on the dash (that goes out when I put on my seatbelt- I always do). I only deactivated the chime for the driver's seat.

Interesting, perhaps we've exposed either a regional or exact vintage difference in Land Cruiser or something in Carista or the OBD2 interface access?

I get 3 seconds of chime only at initial startup. I did have drivers seat only disabled (alarm helps encourage miscreant passengers to get in line) but went ahead and killed all seat's alarm as a test- 3 second chime at startup persists.

For my uses short/no chime with continued dash light warning is much preferred over brute-force hardware defeat (too strong a description for sticking a latch tongue into the latch but this approach leaves you more vulnerable to a bad outcome imo)

Very possible that it has to do with region, model year, or something else.

For reference, I have no chime at all and my vehicle is:
  • 2026
  • North America
  • LC trim w/ Premium Package

As a retired Law Enforcement Officer, I had the occasion to either investigate or supervise traffic crash investigations. Famous statements of "it's a hassle to wear a belt" or "I was just going to the store" etc., were said many times over my 34 years on the job. Always...I mean Always wear your seatbelt.

...and that I do. I live on a busy road with a blind driveway, so will usually do a multi-point turn in the driveway to pull out into traffic nose first rather than back out. The seatbelt chime would be dinging away for most of this manoeuvre, and now I can do it in silence. I am buckled up before leaving the driveway.
