I have been told removing the roof rack cross members will help also. I guess that depends on if you use/need them.
I opted for no cross bars and no roof basket- for noise, and for not having a need.

7. Driver recording - why would anyone chose to have this on? What possible benefit is there to me as an owner to have it turned on? I get why Toyota would want it.
I also have a 2-door wrangler soft top. I know it will be way better than thatAs with many box-shaped vehicles, there is some wind noise. That will be true for the Land Cruiser, a Wrangler, a Bronco or any other heritage-inspired vehicle with similar form factor.
I don't find the noise excessive, though I do hear some when driving with a window cracked open. Crack that window a little farther open and noise is reduced. I believe the mirrors are the main source. I have some OEM window visors on my "to-do" list, and suspect that will cut down some of the noise I do hear. I came from a Jeep JK Rubicon, and find the Land Cruiser to be quieter in most regards. My suggestion would be to test drive a Land Cruiser before committing.
Welcome to the asylum.Hello Everyone,
I’m new here without a Land Criuser, but am thinking of purchasing. One question.
How is the wind noise? I’ve seen quite a few complaints that it’s a bit loud on the highway.
I also have a 2-door wrangler soft top. I know it will be way better than that, but it’s a summer fun vehicle. Not my daily driver.
What are the OEM window visors?
Thank you.
Doug Demuro is an odd dude. I find him hard to listen to. He was just butt-hurt, like so many others, that the LC was no longer the luxury flagship of the brand. So he poo-poo'ed all over it. Then the 4Runner came out with the exact same drive train and he was gushing all over it. His words, "That new 4runner is AWESOME". Go figure.I’m leveling off at about 22 MPG in aggregate. But it’s fascinating how situationally variable it is. If I drive from home to office (~20 miles) in traffic I get as much as 29 or 30 MPG. Screaming down the highway at 75 MPH, it’s much less. Maybe 19 MPG. I figure it’s a combination of the effect of the electric motor at lower speeds and the non-aerodynamic profile. But 22 MPG is about what I expected.
On power - I think you just have to understand where the curve is. From 1500 RPM to about 3250 RPM, the vehicle feels very powerful to me. Above about 4000 RPM, not so much. This is like a diesel, and if you know about it coming in you can do a lot to keep the truck in the power curve. If you try to drive it like any other car, you probably will end up in situations where it feels underwhelming.
I was very disappointed with Doug DeMuro’s review of the power. His analysis was very two-dimensional and I expected him to have a more thorough understanding of how the powertrain works and delivers power and torque in a vehicle of this type. TL/DR, it’s optimized for off-road conditions that require major power and torque at low RPMs and that deliver it very quickly. The LC nails that brief and is also powerful enough to be responsive at highway speeds, if not necessarily fast like a Cayenne. DeMuro should have known this.
I really like the Land Cruiser. The two things that still bug me are:
- The engine note was a decision, and I don’t like it. The loud 4 cylinder drone at lower speeds sounds unrefined to my ears. I’ve been in plenty of 4 cylinder vehicles that were tuned differently. 4 cylinder BMWs sound awesome.
- At this point I’m ready to say that the multimedia interface is awful. Way too many taps needed to do things, the info on the screens is arranged awkwardly, and the whole thing is not very configurable. I’m not going to sell the truck over this objection or anything, but frankly the design and usability of the MMI is not as good as my 2016 Tahoe was. Considering how good MMI design has gotten across the industry, it’s a let down.

100%. Don't get me started on that douchebag TRD Jon. He is such a soft, whiny little B****.Dougy boy is a ‘tard..
Much quieter than my 5th Gen 4Runner was, that's for sure.Hello Everyone,

I stopped reading at "2 electric motors" they have no idea what they are talking about, it has 1 electric motor sandwiched between the engine and transmission! " turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder is assisted by two electric motors to make 326 horsepower."

The wind noise is quite a bit louder than my BMW X5, but I’ve mostly gotten used to it.Hello Everyone,

Obviously going to be differences between your Israeli spec’d LC and my US version. I am curious what you mean by this complaint. How do wheel diameter and shift profiles relate as you interpret the complaint?3- in normal drive mode the shift points are not correct with 20" wheels I got,
i got Canadian spec (not the local diesel).Obviously going to be differences between your Israeli spec’d LC and my US version. I am curious what you mean by this complaint. How do wheel diameter and shift profiles relate as you interpret the complaint?
Gotcha, so you have a 2.8T mild-hybrid? What tires size do you have? Are you running an E-load tire?i got Canadian spec (not the local diesel).
it looks like the computer is not correctly configures to use the 20" stock wheels, looks like its tunes for a different size hence the shift points are on the higher side.. go alight uphell and you will feel it, downshift and you will see what I refer you can also feel it when you change to sport mode as the shift points are a bit more aggressive.. that vibration/due to
wrong shift point/timing of it is a direct result of that in my opinion
FWIW, I meant to add a question mark to the end of my last comment. I wonder if you’re experiencing some hybrid clunkiness along with the heavier regenerative response as you descend through normal and eco modes. The mild hybrid definitely has some character when cycling down through moderate speeds to near stop or stop instances, and it can feel like something is wrong or dysfunctional for surei have the petrol 2.4 hybrid 326HP, i personally imported it from canada new because I cannot stand the diesel that is sold locally (under powered and engine noise is not ok and missing many good features from the premium)
yeah I mean the tire size in general re shift points. not sure if its better with the other size that comes on 18" wheels or if the diameter is the same..if somebody moved to different tire size and experienced both maybe can tell.. or maybe its just me coming recently from 35" tires on a Rubicon gear ratio that is adapted exactly to that tire size..
a downshift or sport mode makes it drives great on hilly roads anyways
