prado 250 brake Noise Manufacturing Issue

11/24, less than 1000km. Squeal in reverse only, first thing in the morning.

Australia will have "minor defects" or similar consumer protections, you aren't going to get compensated, but they do have to reasonably try to fix it.

If you were going to pursue this, you should find all the TSBs issues in the US which have been linked in the other thread -it would help to know that you have the faulty part numbers listed. Faulty brakes should be safety issue and a recall.

I've had my brakes squeal in reverse immediately after starting probably twice, maybe three times. Never happened again.
I've noticed this happening to me on my 1958 model just this week. Only happens in reverse. Unfortunately, mine seems to still be happening.

'25 LC trim. squeel has gotten worse. now when going forward too. reverse is really bad. from another thread, i've called Toyota to document it. Will bring it in for 1st break-in oil change and have the skid plates installed, mentioned it when setting up appointment.

Yes, they squeal occasionally in reverse after sitting for a few days. The squeal lasts for maybe a second or two.
Is this a deal breaker? Absolutely not. If somebody believes that an occasional brake squeal in reverse is a "serious problem" and more important than long term reliability, safety, performance, he/she are looking at a wrong car.
I'd rather live with an occasional brake squeal than with a rubber wet belt driving the oil pump like Ford, or camshafts that fail after 60k miles like Jeep.
Yours must not be squealing as loud as mine are- I assure you, this is a very loud, disturbing grinding sound! I’m not a complainer- this sounds like my wheel is going to grind off in reverse!

I want to highlight key issues regarding the Prado 250: the brake noise problem and dealer transparency.

Firstly, for anyone considering purchasing a brand-new Prado 250, be aware that this vehicle has a manufacturing defect causing brake noise—something the dealer will likely not disclose at the time of sale. Believe me, the noise is not just unpleasant; it can also be embarrassing. Until Toyota provides a proper fix, I strongly advise against purchasing this model.

However, if you still decide to go ahead with the purchase, I highly recommend including a contractual clause stating that if the issue persists, you have the right to return the vehicle for a full refund.

Secondly, as an owner of the Prado 250 who paid full price for the vehicle, I would like to understand whether we, as customers, are entitled to compensation from Toyota or the dealer for failing to disclose this issue at the time of sale. This lack of transparency has impacted the ownership experience, and I believe affected owners deserve a fair resolution.

If anyone has insights or has pursued this matter, please share your experience.
I completely agree with you! Dealers need to take this complaint seriously and Toyota needs to issue a fix, the number of complaints on this forum is enormous

Me, 15k miles, and it doesnt fail to squeak / squeal in reverse. Totally annoying!

Update: Dealer resurfaced my front rotors, on the print out it says "glazed resurface front rotors" "clean brake pads" .... so far so good on resolution. They talked to Toyota, and decided NOT to replace any components b/c they would be the same parts. If/when they release a recommended service bulletin, they will notify me (?maybe) and gladly comply with any recommended fix. I'm pleased for now!

I've had it happen 2-3 times, and it's annoying... but it's also how good brakes often sound. You should hear the noise my MINI would make while the Brembo pads were cold, it was ear-shattering but completely fine.

I have the same issue, only in reverse though as many stated, I'm thinking to air blow the brakes and power wash them after.

Mine sqeals in reverse first thing in the morning - no big deal that wouldn't stop me from buying the truck.

In Jan 2025 took ownership of VX Prado.
Brakes began to squeal in forward and worse in reverse.
Put up with it for a few month but the last month the noise is making the car undriveable as its embarrassing to take out.
Spoke with local dealer who sold us the car and tech person attempted to bed brakes in, and noise stop for 3 or 4 hours and then back worse than ever.
Later this month dealership has a paste they want to try on pads.
I have spoken with 1800 call to Toyota Australia, and they told me they are discussing issue with Japanese manufacture with no outcome as yet.
So we have a car we paid nearly 6 firgures for and toyota wont take it back and cannot give us a time on being fixed. We have asked for new pads be put on but they will not come at it at this time.
We live 3 hours from the dealership and cannot keep coming to town to get it sorted.
Let's hope the miracle paste later this month fixes it.

Mine squeak too in reverse - lights out from the dealer - no call back no email no text 2500 miles into a 72k vehicle with a long history of reliable performance?
