Prado 250 squealing brakes

I am really surprised Lexus has a TSB (BR2404) for the GX550 (Front Brake Squeal Noise) , and more or less, the components are similar to Toyota except the branding. As both are built on common platform. And why Toyota has not noticed this for so long.

I have the same issue when backing up, and its extra loud in colder weather. I try to pump the brakes as I back up to warm up the metal. Don't know if that is even a thing, but it helps most times... annoying for certain.

Please call Toyota customer service 1-800-331–4331 to complain about the break noise. Mine have squealed since the day I bought it and I’m at 5000 miles.They told me they won’t fix this or put out an TSB until enough. People complain to them

Yes! I just reported the issue and the customer service representative said that they need it reported to build a case procurement. Case numbers are gathered for common issues which eventually rise to a systemic issue among vehicles. Thanks for the number!

Known problem on the 22+ Tundras, had mine replaced prior to trading it, called for new rotors, pads and shim kit.

After testing my truck and determining that it had a moderate amount of squealing in reverse, they replaced the front LH and RH side shim kits, the anti-rattle spring, the callipers, and the front pads. And it's been going very smoothly lately. They have suggested replacing the disc if the sounds persist. And all replaced under warranty.

Yes absolutely smooth, The noise has gone.

I hope that whatever brake pad material that Toyota chooses is at least as effective as what came on our trucks. It would be my dumb luck that the new pads that Toyota settles on for the TSB repair are not as effective as the original pads that came on Miss Daisy.

I fully agree the breaking on the OEM pads with so much wt added with additionals mods. The breaking distance is even further. I am waiting for Akebono Ceramics to launch soon. Technically performance wise they are much better. I have been using on my so many models I have owned from V6 to V8 Engines and never let me down even once. This is purely my opinion. The launch was somewhere around 2 Qtr end. Hoping they are out soon.

Hi all. I have a new Prado GXL that I love, for the most part. But every time I reverse, the brakes let out a deafening squeal. Embarrassing trying to reverse park in town! Toyota dealer has told me they are aware of the problem and that Toyota are looking at a fix. Apparently same problem on some 300Series. Can anyone tell me if they have same problem and have found a solution. I took mine to the local brake guy and he has machined the rotors and all good for now. Toyota dealer tells me the machining of the rotors will only stop the noise for a week or two. Any advice welcome.
