You think EU (EU6d) and Australian (NVES) emission standards are more relaxed than US? Your argument proves the opposite, if it was emissions related, they would make their vehicles in EU use 0W-20 as well.

Don’t know, don’t care. Kinda silly discussion as you should do what is your personal requirement. No one is making anyone use 0W-20 ….just recommended for the average driver.
Severe duty use I’m not rolling 10,000 miles & changing oil & filter on a car I own. Do what you want. Appears on this forum many owners, if not most, don’t wait to 10k miles either, so there goes the follow the recommendations. A lot of vehicles are treated as normal use because Toyota Care service is doing the oil changes for free the 1st 4 or 5 services, but only 2 of those service visits change the oil. Meanwhile many of us are driving around in traffic, towing, off road, high speed, or high temperature areas that are closer to severe use. You’re taking a chance @ 10k oil change intervals that your oil will hold up.
I’m going to be doing twice as many oil changes as Toyota provides in those first 25k miles.

Don't really care, it's your engine I'm not in sales and don't care what oil you buy or use. Not arguing just providing information that can readily be found. Do with it with what you will.

I stick to the "fresh oil is better than old oil" method and shorten my intervals of 5w-20 changes. Also, If I'm about to go on a long trip or tow, fresh oil change before going.
In Mexico the owners manual allows 0w-20, 0w-30, 5w-30, 10w-30. USA is restricted by CAFE (corporate average fuel economy) standards. Toyota uses thinner oil to avoid millions of dollars in fines, to save a tiny bit of fuel. I am using 5w-30 Royal Purple for engine and turbo longevity, with 5000 mile oil changes. I use the toyota oil filter.
