OIL thread ,,, 0-20 wt oil ???

As an old engine guy I read up on oils a lot,, I know the LC says 0-20 oil,, Talk about thin oil,,,
I would feel a lot safer mabe using a 10 w 30 oil,,,
and don't start saying the LC was so tight clearance in the engine it needs super light thin oil,,
I know better,,

I mean, you do you!?! I will say 2 things on the subject:
1) this has been discussed a ton. Probably up there in frequency with tire sizes and interior storage restrictions. Not as much as fuel capacity though.
2) That’s a lot of commas.

Welcome to the forum. There’s approximately one million threads discussing this topic if you care to join in. Feel free to use whatever oil you want if you disagree with Toyota. Sounds like you already know better and need no input from anyone else.

I took it as more of a statement than a question. If OP follows through, I would be interested in seeing how much longer it takes with 10W30 to build oil pressure.

...a 2.4L start/stop ICE working here. It's no different than any other machine in that 80% of failures are starting or stopping something (made up stat, but a lot)- in this case it's the first few instants where motion is occurring and oil pressure isn't all the way up where the wear WILL occur. Thinner oil gets there faster. And if you really, really want to dive down to explore unknowable stuff, what about thermal transfer out of the turbo bearings....
