How are they on the highway, dry and especially in the wet?

The OEM Yoko G31, shockingly, are worse on the highway than my old Hankook AT2s. I lost all confidence in them after two days of heavy rain.

I’m really stuck between the G3, Toyo AT3 and AT4W. KO3 seem to quite bad in the wet so they off the list.

I've found them to be great on the highway as well as off road. Did manage to puncture a sidewall on a recent trip, but I'd chalk that up more to user error. Path we were trying to find was washed out, so we needed to go off-off road. Found a dead sagebrush that was effectively re-bar that impaled the tire. My buddies with e-rated tires on their jeeps admitted that theirs wouldn't have survived that either. Other than that, I've had them on a number of intermediate rated trails and they perform great. Smooth on the highway and fine in the rain.

I'd love to go 285, but I do think the 275/60 would be a better size for these, unless you're doing a lift. The 275/70/18's fit the wheel well perfectly on mine

Any issues with the spare tyre?

K02’s were shit in the rain, but the K03’s are not. I’ve been caught in 2 of the biggest rainstorms I’ve experienced in the last year and my K03’s have been phenomenal. I never felt any hydroplaning or lack of confidence that I got in even moderate rains on previous vehicles with K02’s.

i have this size and weight too, and i'm pretty happy with them. are they noisy to you? any issues with balancing? what pressure are you running?

They may have a little more hum than the stock tire but nothing to complain about in my opinion. Balanced out great also had them road force balanced with no issues at all .
I messed with the psi and finally settled with 33psi

I'll be the 3rd or 4th to try and revive this thread to answer the unanswered... How do these perform aired down? I take my current ridge grapplers down to 18psi with no issue, but can run the beaches I frequent as high as 20 per county code. Do they maintain their mount in this range? TIA.

I've had mine aired down to 20psi, on stock LC LC wheels, in dirt and rocks and had no problems.
I haven't been able to try them in any real amount of sand or snow yet.

Yea, Corolla requires 20psi or less air down. No one really moderates it, but I’d hate to be the local who doesn’t and disparage any tourists who are stuck due to their ignorance.

Wow. I guess it has been about 30 years since I was driving in Corona / Corolla, but it was basically the Wild West. The pavement just ended and you just kept driving seeing a few homes scattered here and there in south corolla. I remember my girlfriend's father was this super cool guy who had one of the first 4Runners I'd ever seen - detachable cab if I recall. He took me wheeling in there and up this crazy dune called Penny Hill?? Is that still there and do people drive up it?
Then years later I heard Tom Cruise built a home there and then that might have started the construction of mansion vacation homes being built there. I have to go check it out soon for sure.
I recall in about 1988 looking at a lot in there for $20K and thinking about trying to scrape money together to buy it.

tons of rain in Socal lately and no wet traction concerns. slight hum, and for me, probably lost 1-2 MPG. running ~36PSI

i was trying to find a balance of largest possible tire with lowest weight and these were the ones i kept coming back to. I was tempted to go with 295/70 R18 Recon grappler but i wanted to be able to fit a matching spare though a large tire would have looked a bit better, i just don't need it at this point.

What does your poke look like? I think those wheels are the best "OEM" option alongside the GX OTs... but looking at your photo has me thinking the offset is aggressive in the opposite way.

i ended up putting on spidertrax 1.25" spacers to give it more poke over stock TRD Pro BBS wheels. no pics handy at the moment but can take one later

Ahhh, that makes sense then. You're good, I'm not planning to going for a wider stance, just wanted to make sure those wheels could stay on my radar. I just sold a set of Trailhunters that would have poked a bit too.

I know this is an old thread, but just got a wheel and tire package, and went with the Terra Grapplers G3’s in 275/70/18 with Method 318’s +40 offset. Will get everything installed next Saturday. I had FWP a/3’s on my 4r curios of the differences…

I’m also curious if anyone has mounted the tire with the sidewall design in the “shield” design , all I see from the pics here our the slanted “dagger” design?

Just mounted 275/70R18 this week with the shield side out.
