Regular in this context is about the octane rating, 87 vs 93 octane.I haven’t seen “regular “ fuel for decades in my state. Probably since 1990 ish, it’s all been unleaded.

YesI am confused. A knock is considered a misfire?
I have always considered a misfire as the sparkplug didn't fire when the computer told it to (regardless of the reason why) and a knock is where the sparkplug fired and ignited the fuel/air mixture and the flame front wasn't concentric across the piston ie... early or late firing of the spark plug (timing) before the piston was at the sweet spot in the cylinder for the fuel air mixture (as determined by the octane and the tune (fuel table) that's in the computer. The knock sensor detects the "knock" and adjusts the timing according to the variances/parameters programed into the computer.I am confused. A knock is considered a misfire?
You're not wrong, the ecu analyzes the crank position sensor to see the pulses of the piston(s) in its rotation. If it sees a pulse early or late (outside of its adjustment range) or a pulse is missing (no fire) when the spark was triggered ,it is a misfire.I have always considered a misfire as the sparkplug didn't fire when the computer told it to (regardless of the reason why) and a knock is where the sparkplug fired and ignited the fuel/air mixture and the flame front wasn't concentric across the piston ie... early or late firing of the spark plug (timing) before the piston was at the sweet spot in the cylinder for the fuel air mixture (as determined by the octane and the tune (fuel table) that's in the computer. Welcome to the asylum dust_trait.Afaict- premium fuel required. Octane 91 or higher.
Normal mode vs eco mode- Im not sure but I just drive in normal mode. It sounds to me your salesperson was overselling.
I enjoy the drive and the offroading abilities when needed.
