LC 2027 Gas Mileage

The outfit she bought from, at least up in DFW, has a challenging reputation. Their motto is buy from us & we did all the mods so you don’t have to - & they’ll finance it. Buyers may not understand what they’re buying.

First started seeing them around CV19 when used car prices went through the roof selling modded Jeeps. They’ll put a cheap lift & 35-37” tires on about anything w/ 4x4, & then retail it well north of average book. Act like their super specialized 4x4 stores.
Feel bad she went through that scene. Buyer beware.

Every time I read one of these threads, I’m pretty terrified to “upgrade” my tires on my 2026. 20 inch with standard Yoko CSV which are great on the road but also have done dirt trails and some fairly aggressive stuff, etc with no issues at all. As much as I want the tires to look cooler- seems really stupid to throw away my 22-24mpg tank averages for looks. That’s since new. It’s getting better at 9K miles also

Does everyone putting these aggressive off-road tires go hard core offroad every weekend to justify the huge fuel hit?

Lots of tire options out there & tech is now catching up with the new EV versions. Even w/ current offerings If you can keep size reasonable & don’t need an E-load rating, like a 275/60R20 can be found w/ reasonable weight & looks good. No question an aggressive tread impacting mileage.

But, so does my right foot on the pedal, accessories on the roof, loading/lugging the engine, staying in boost, headwinds, lots of idling, etc.

I was getting outstanding MPG with the OEM Michelins, up to 30 mpg on interstate trips. I just couldn’t wait to get All Terrain tires like all the cool kids in the TLC CLub, even though I rarely go off-road (though I want to do so).

The Bridgestone Dueler AT Ascents (3PMSF) were within a few pounds of the OEM Michelins, but it looks like they will end up costing me 2-3-4 MPG. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.. but at least MIss Daisy looks ‘more cooler’ now..

I get roughly the same MPG with lighter weight aftermarket 18" wheels and C range LT tires than I did with the OEM 20s. The extra tire sidewall and snow peformance alone alone was worth it and the off road traction was a bonus.

I have a 1958 with stock wheels and tires. Where this hybrid system shines for me is in the city. I’ve learned to baby the pedal where I can often times get 30 mpg in the city on a trip. At the bottom of the boat ramp pulling a 21ft Sea Ray, most of the time there is enough torque and power in the hybrid system that the engine doesn’t even turn on. A small amount of pedal kicks the electric motor on but not the engine and it pulls the boat right up the ramp. I never really use sport mode, ever. On the highway, most of the time I average about 22 or 23 because you can see the turbo on the gauge kick in frequently. I came from a V8 4Runner that averaged 16mpg. I put 365k on that baby before getting this LC. My lifetime totals at 22k miles is 23.8. That is almost a 50% improvement with a lot more available power. I’m very happy with the gas mileage for such a big, heavy vehicle.
