LC LC
Hi,

I have LCLC premium. When I drive on the highway at 70+mph, I can barely hear side speakers in A pillar and bottom of the door. It sounds like all the sound is coming from the center one by the windshield and side speakers get drawn out by the road noise (which is rather substantial). Is there a way to boost side speakers or lower volume on the center one, preferrably without hw modifications?

There should be a setting in the menu under sound preferences- surround “on” or surround “off.”

I have tried it both ways, and surround “on” seems to send more information to the center channel, bias it towards the center compared to the a-pillar tweeters.

Throw a few different well-recorded tracks on with surround engaged/disengaged and see if that does it for you.

You can find a ton of threads concerning LC audio and the crappy JBL set up. Search this forum. After running down this audio rabbit hole, I'm afraid that in my view, the only correct approach to fix this is with a speaker swap and an aftermarket amp. If you leave it all stock, beat sonic may do what you want, but even that is a band aid. I spent cash and time trying most of these "solutions" only to find it introduced another set of challenges (JL's in the dash for example - two tweeters in close proximity and harshness in the highs) to speaker swaps in the doors. Research the threads and remember we all have differences in hearing and perception of sound. I'm quite happy with the stock headhunt now, but it just runs a signal to my DSP Amp, outputting sound to 12 channels of audio and a powered sub.

I have been plotting a DSP solution for the Land Cruiser since I brought it home. There doesn’t seem to be a definitive method for grabbing clean signal while retaining all of the features run through the Toyota head unit in what I have read online.

I am all ears for anyone wanting to share how they intercepted signal and whether everything still works properly after upgrading. My go-to for such information is usually the DIYMA forums, and while I have seen a few Toyota hybrid builds on there, to the best of my knowledge no-one has done a 2024+ Land Cruiser. I like the center channel concept (compared to a phantom center channel using time alignment), but those usually work best when replacement speakers are voice matched.

AP4-TY14 - Works quite well in mine- make sure you run a 12 channel DSP amp. 8 channel will not be enough to power the center dash and two rear tailgate speakers. Be warned this isn't a cheap way to go as the amp is well over 1K alone. I replaced ALL the JBL crap with Hertz and run a Kicker powered Sub. Full range in the dash and Hertz tweeters in the stock locations in the pillars and rear doors.

Is that what you used?

I have seen those (not in-person), seems stock could be better. It is a “T” harness?
Yes. I wanted plug and play without cutting into wiring. It works for me, but feel free to explore other options.
